Lotte you are correct in what you say i definitely think SOME race managers are using dogs to make up races. This will have a detrimental effect on dogs available for racing because owners will no longer keep these ordinary dogs unless they can pay their way and are graded fairly. Not used as fodder as you say.

It was meant to be a stake so was delighted as I thought the bitch had qualified in 3rd only to learn it was 2 one offs lol.... I know it looks really bad but in fairness I entered the dog in open unraced stake he was just unlucky not to qualify last week.... he is my last time finder so I hope you all forgive me :-)

Of necessity pups in Ireland had to wait 6 week's to get on the card.Get in the queue and wait your turn.
Dogs are so scarce now pups could be put on after a week or two at some tracks so you could have genuine novice races where young dogs could learn.
This arrangement won't suit the "I want to win them all" types though.

I agree with giving the price money to the second dog in the race if the dogs finding that sort of time goes for 10k then the owner has got his reward.

But the new owner will be stuck with a dog, that'll be upgraded an additional grade for excess timefinding.
If dog goes from A9 to A1, it'll get a penalty of 1 grade, so will be upgraded to Open class. That way new owner will have to race the dog 3 times for it to be downgraded to it's real grade, perhaps not so happy paying 10k.
This is the only way to give excess timefinders a taste of their own medicine.

is this the same person that is defending the indefencible on another thread here and now finds herself finding time herself one of the easiest ways of finding time is the old way a coursing trial
it wakes up the ones that are half hearted about chasing but the risk of injury is high
dogs can improve massively after a good hunt and perfectly legal
