Belle Vue instead of Wimbledon.

Looking at a video from BV recently there seems to be heaps of room to develop this in to a proper track.
I heard on Irish radio recently that 6 Million people live within 30 minutes of Manchester centre so is it time to move on especially as the new Wimbledon will have a restricted crowd capacity.

White City what a loss i hope we dont say the same about Harolds Cross soon. EXTERNAL LINK

Sadly Belle Vue is another track run by the GRA until it's owners can profit from selling it for development EXTERNAL LINK . The GRA have continually run stadiums down over the years and sold them, this ethos will not change. No GRA track has a future, let alone a chance to be developed into a better greyhound facility.

I believe that London needs a greyhound track and, as it is the only one left, Wimbledon it is. I certainly cannot see anyone buying land and getting planning approval for anywhere else in London.

I hope it gets the go ahead from the local authority for re-development as a greyhound track and not as a football stadium and that the Paschal Taggart bid gets approval from NAMA.

It's an unbelievable situation that has been allowed to develop clinging onto the last London track by our fingertips. If Paschal does by some miracle get it, he is now proposing a 3000 capacity stadium. Which would be better to have a sold out Derby in modern facilities , than a partly filled scrap heap that currently hosts the Derby.

Property developers causing panic stations amongst Manchester greyhound folk.
Track was sold for small money by GRA a few years back now owned by a pension fund

Any Irish investors out there?

A venue held in high regard by many & definately a sleeping giant. All that's needed is vision. Can see the larger kennels returning. Can be the future of racing in the north, fingers crossed a force for good.

Only the leases have been transferred. You would not invest unless you owned the track. Belle vue needs millions spending on it. The facilities are extremely poor. They have a suite for groups that has no windows , all racing on tvs. What a joke. Live 15 mins from track and have not been there for 20 years. Boring 4 bend racing 99% of the time.
