At long last I'm happy to report that Traralgon will be holding it's first race meeting since closing for re-build in May 2014. Commencing on 15th August the club will be conducting late twilight Saturday meetings with early twilight tier 3 meetings on Mondays. 2015 Traralgon Cup over 525m to be held in early September 2015. This Saturday there is a picnic meeting which will be attended by club vet, stewards, casual staff and TopCat Video to give everyone a chance to get back into the routine of conducting a race meeting. Dare I forget the bar will be in operation although no tote for picnic meeting. Hope to see a big crowd for opening night.

Don - no interest in trialling the FOL on the new track?

Hi Hayden,

We have been trialling FOL with loop arm. Seems to whiz around quite well. We have a braking system so can pull arm up wherever we need to including stopping in catching pen if that is what GRV decrees.

I wish the Club & you Don a successful opening next Saturday.

Nearly time to take your hat off & enjoy a couple of sherbets.

Have one for me ;-)

Cheers Steve.

Don

Did you end up installing a cable or a Bramich lure, as apparently the Bramich is more suitable to the FOL

Hi Sandro,

Cable lure. To my knowledge we haven't used a Bramich lure in VIC for many years.

Hi Don
i raced my two dogs there on saturday was very impressed
one dog won and the other came in a close second
really liked the little stir up area just out side the kennels
dogs get a great view and can clearly hear the lure
been hanging for the track to open
will be a regular for sure

great job

Thanks Martyn,

Only small fields but in all 28 races dogs seemed to stay out of trouble without any noticeable interference and most importantly travel safely.

Hi James,

The track is based on Richmond NSW with slight changes to distances. Finish post brought back 5 metres and 525m boxes placed forward 5 metres account for variation between Richmond 535m and Traralgon 525m feature race start. Other aspects you may find interesting include Burrumbeet sand as used on most VIC tracks and 13 on-course cameras positioned around track.

Richmond is a terrific track to race at the only draw back in my opinion and I hope you haven't copied it is the changeover on the first bend.

I see Fernando Bale was nominated for Saturday, why didn't they put a FFA on so we could see him race. What a wasted promotional opportunity
