I put a concept to Administrators several years ago
for A Greyhound Expo at the Meadows
The idea was for a All Breeds Dog Show on a Friday
A Greyhound Expo (Hydrobaths, Floats, Kennel enclosures, Nutrition, Veterinarians, Technology, etc) of Displays and events Friday through to Sunday
A Magic Millions type Greyhound Auction on the Saturday with a Magic Millions type event on Saturday night
Greyhounds purchased the previous year to compete for a Group Event
Sunday was a flow through Auction and Expo
The close proximity to Melbourne Airport and Accommodation made it the perfect venue for Interstate travellers

I did highlight that the event would be in the Car park or surrounds and that Canine wouldn't enter the Race Complex
Sometimes things are just TOO HARD

You won't guess what the objection was
PARVO and similar diseases brought onto the complex by Canine other than Greyhounds

It couldn't work???
Ask Gerry Harvey and John Singleton

Are Administrators TOO OLD TOO LAZY??

Why not sell Sandown Park for probably hundreds of millions and set up in Tynong next to the Pakenham horse track! Build a race track, straight track, bull rings, state of the art kennels. Can still be called Sandown race club. Club could even keep the pokies and tab in Sandown and rake in millions a year.

Dale
A Multi Million reasons
TABARET
Wouldn't be the same
Melbourne Cup crowd would be the population of Tynong

Hi Peter, not having a go but we need the younger Generation involved in the industry. They don't live in Sandown/Springvale. Your growth suburbs are in Koo Wee Rup, Pakenham,Clyde North, Berwick, Officer, Bunyip, Drouin & Warragul. Move the pokies/tab to front of the site in Sandown and sell the rest! Set up in Tynong and move forward. Set up trainers allotments in Tynong with council permit for specific number of greyhounds.

Mick Floyds reply was more than reasonable. (regardless of the usual and expected reply's from the recent cereal pest of all sites greyhounds)Sandown is limited on size and council "crap" just makes things harder. Country tracks have more room and scope to put in place "Full training facilities". I see that Bendigo is progressing well along this path. The more country tracks follow this lead, the better for the game overall.

Richard
Was the CEREAL pest you refer to a Weavil or Rat perhaps a Mouse
Or was he/she from the SERIAL Dallas or perhaps Days Of Our Lives??
