I would be happy to purchase a straw Ben and tuck it away to do this mating CLICK HERE if one of my 3 bitches from the above litter made the grade on the racetrack.

Designing a special pedigree GOT a phone call during the week from a broodbitch owner in Victoria. He has a nice bitch and the purpose of his call was to get an opinion on if she suited a mating to Sulzanti. Do you reckon he can make it at stud, was one of the callers questions. If there was a correct answer to that question, wed all be millionaires as a result of it. It is a question I tried to answer for him. Sulzanti is a dog I know well anyone who watched his handful of races in Victoria will know just as much about his race ability as I. A son of Magic Sprite-Scissor Queen he has a pedigree to run like the wind and thats just what he did. Any dog capable of winning in 29.09 around Sandown is a serious race dog, a VERY serious race dog. But Sulzanti ran 29.47 at Sandown when making his debut and not long after ran 29.34. He broke 30 around The Meadows and won in 25.23 at Ballarat. Tragedy struck when he was so seriously injured in the Group 2 Sandown Shootout that he is unable to race again. From just 12 starts he won seven and was twice placed. What is even more tragic is the fact trainer Jamie Ennis and breeder-owner Ben George will never be able to achieve with Sulzanti what he promised. Ennis rates the dog a tick off his champion My Bro Fabio a triple Group 1 winner and a track record breaker. Ennis praise of Sulzanti and his comparison with one as great as Fabio shows just what lay in store for the dog. So, back to my callers question. I must be getting old and admit to having watched his fifth dam Crescent Queen race when she was trained by Timmy Billen up in Queensland. Crescent Queen raced in the late 1980s. Her third mother Classy Zoom (Black Top-Busy Beaver) was a finalist in the NSW St Leger and a full sister to legend Zoom Top. Sulzantis fourth dam Ultra Queen, bred by Sam Apap, became a super broodbitch. I always thought her son Short Model (Deep North-Ultra Queen) should have won a Queensland greyhound of the year but I was only one vote on that panel. Short Models litter sister Queen Size I saw win a race in handy time at Albion Park. She became a top class producer and the line is still producing today Sulzanti. When mated in 2005 to Surf Lorian, Queen Size produced Group 1 winner and Albion Park track record breaker Made To Size. Also in that litter was a bitch called Surf Queen. She was speedy but she did win in a fast 25.80 around the old Parklands track, a time that gave her credentials to be bred with. She was, and proved herself. Queen Size went to Elite State to produce Size Can Matter a Group 1 winner in Australia and New Zealand. He was Queensland greyhound of the year. So when Surf Queen came on season, it made sense to put her to Elite States best son Knocka Norris. It produced Group 1 Golden Easter Egg winner Dont Knocka Him and Scissor Queen twice a winner of the Grafton Sprinters Cup. I watched Scissor Queen win both races and there are few (Flying Amy aside) who could come out of a box like her. As I told my caller, in my opinion Knocka Norris (damsire of Sulzanti) will be a huge influence on the success or otherwise of Sulzanti at stud. So I suppose we should look first at the best progeny of Knocka Norris is a guide to what broodbitch lines might best suit Sulzanti. Knockas best produce is Punch One Out and she brings in a double of Solve The Puzzle and also a cross of Token Prince. Token Prince is bred identically to Princess Rema who is found in a strong position in the damline of Knocka. Of course, the fact Knocka has Goddess Of Fire in his damline means we should also look to bring in a cross of Awesome Assassin (full brother to Goddess Of Fire) to continue a successful theme. Surf Lorian is the sire of Sulzantis second dam and he is in a position to duplicate. He also does exceptionally well with outcross bitches, but likes to be mated to bitches with lots of Chariot Supreme and Light Of Fire. Sulzantis sireline via Magic Sprite means Sulzanti can mate bitches with more Brett Lee, bring in a cross of Big Daddy Cool, and also bitches with the half relations Larkhill Jo and Sonic Flight. Which, for me, would make a daughter of Jarvis Bale an absolute MUST for a mating to Sulzanti. Fabregas daughters will also appeal because of his cross of Larkhill Jo as his damsire. Magics Sprites dam Glamorous is a litter sister to Talks Cheap but more importantly is from the National Lass/National Dingaan damline. Magic Sprite has done best when this line is reinforced. I also believe Velocette bitches could do well with Sulzanti, and bitches by Bombastic Shiraz would be naturals. There are plenty of options for Sulzanti.
This is an article by David Brasch ( PEDIGREE BY DESIGN ) This may go some way in helping out with brood bitches that may suit him. Cheers Ben

With Sulzanti's damline he will have to produce. You have to seriously consider this mating, Brett Lee's sireline and Credibility's (although forgotten) you would near produce a freak.

My opinion is you have a ready made stud dog . He looks like a stud dog , He runs like a stud dog , He is bred like a stud dog . Then he probably is a stud dog . We are in an era where the tracks are too hard . Soon the tracks will be more appropriate to longevity rather than " keep an eye on the clock " . Believe in him and he will deliver , track maintenance cost him a career . IE on the track , he still has a career at stud though .

Could be wrong ,naive, stupid and a little bit of a dreamer but I'd talk to Kevin Wright on utilising his connections in the US and putting free straws to the US,you have a son of lee who is rated highly over there ,could be worth inquiring about !!! I forget now but I know when I studied sulzanti there was a reason why I thought he'd suit mon manny!!!
Once again good luck
Noted I'm aware these lines are diluted !! But knocka Norris dams date to US Spiral Nikita dates to sandman US check late late show Obviously Brett lee has hit many US broods!
3 fair reasons for your stud to outcross successfully I think . Respectfully I'm aware my name is not David brasch but and I'm probably way off as there is not a single mention with US influence or future out crossings ....Interesting!!! And still no response!!! Oh well. Good luck again !!

Hi Nathan. I didn't realise it was a question ( it reads like a statement/ opinion.) I totally agree an outcross with US bloodlines would suit him for sure. David has mentioned it to me in private, and I have also looked into getting a brood from the U.S. It's an expense I just can't find the money for right now. Also would love to use a PW bitch because he has a fair bit of the blood lines I like also. Cheers Ben

Ben
There should be quite a few bitches with US Bloodlines around now with the proliferation of US sires lately
But if you want to source a brood with a US damline keep in mind Rinaldi's line that he imported
They are pretty strong

Cheers Ben ,can't believe we agree !!!hahaha,ok this is a good topic and where it ends is up to you and how much ground work your prepared to do from what I've noticed as a owner of a new stud dog!! As u know I'm a green horn in all areas of this industry as I'm just an owner of greys, but I love the sport and have an attitude that's relentless, like a dog with a bone you could say,and place great importance on being a sponge from whom I come across to gather and utalise information from all walks in the industry with due respect !I'm stating this as I don't want to be seen as something I'm not in regards to my next statements, either you or someone with more insight will probably correct me or even be told mind my own biusness!and that's cool I'm just throwing things around as this is what this site is about ...Yeh! So here goes ,Aus compared to US and Ireland with sons of Brett lee are an abundance yeh so as a business proposition you would assume there would be a need more then here ,easier market to crack just $$$ is the greater cost!so u need help /contacts ,without sounding impersonal do you know Poeple that get straws in containers from the US /Ireland from recognised stud masters ??? You mentioned buying a brood from overseas ,I'm guessing a little here but I would imagine that would cost in excess of 10k-15k,for just one litter that may or may not hit!now from what I'm aware with that kind of money you could have your own container with 20 straws sent!this is a rough estimation Ben !my dreamy picture of all this would be getting 50 straws delivered to both abroad countries with the proviso first 20 free and next 30 is charged to your liking!!costs on this volume I'm in no position to know or say exactly, but this situation is far more fast tracked then purchasing 1 brood with high costs . I'm aware due to past events with me personally that this is a razors edge type of sport and getting assistance could be fruitless!but I think if you spoke to the right Poeple and got your timing right in future plans in accordance with other parties, there could be a chance ,slim chance ,that all the stars align and things fall into place !!! U may never get another dog like this again ,so I would be doing things I've never done before ,leave no stone unturned!! In 10 years have no regrets . Once again talk to the right Poeple and u never know where you could end up !!! And this statement is no disrespect to you and your current circle of good friends ,congrats to all parties that have got this far !! Well done !!! Great job !!sometimes opportunities beg to be branched out ,I think your sulzanti should go this road
Righto everyone come out with your pitch forks.....
Good luck beny boy !!

Good luck with him Ben he is definetly one of the fastest dogs this country has had just a real shame he broke down with his best still to show. No doubt he will prove himself at stud with a pedigree like his and his freakish speed.

Good luck with Sulzanti, he had a bright future and showed everyone that he had the goods, sadly he is one of many examples why we need to fix our tracks, slow them down FFS!
