Terry,

Got that. But I am puzzled. Border Park was privately owned so I presume you are talking about a possible deal between the owners and either or both of GRNSW and RQ. I am aware there were many discussions but I have no idea what they involved.

Of course, there was the nonsensical concept floated a few years ago by GRNSW/Hogan that the track and operations would be shifted into Qld jurisdiction - but not physically. That had many supporters including the then RQ mob who reckoned they could insert it into the Sunday BGC slot. Hogan claims he is a lawyer but he must have been out of the class when they talked about the umpteen legal and constitutional barriers to that happening, plus the fact that TABCORP has an agreement allowing it to conduct betting there (Tatts does not and cannot).

Bruce: Harry Pledger purchased the land many years ago, and believed all local Greyhound participants should share in ownership some way. After the sale some amount between $12-15Million was beleauged to build another track. If this doesn't happen the monies will be distributed to various Charities i'm led to believe.
Hogan was not involved in anyway. After his time. (Harry Pledger died in 2015-16?)

Terry,
Are customers / punters still going to the Border Park track on Saturdays to bet on horse races ?

I dont believe so Mark! Guessing the building would more than likely have been bulldozed. (Haven't been back since the closure)
Would dearly love Steve (McGrath) to post on events happening with Tweed Heads?

Would the money that was set aside after the sale of Border Park be allowed to go over the border ? I think GRNSW is unlikely to offer up anything atm because of the upcoming election in March 2019.

However, it would be great to know what is happening with the proposal. You know, a big straight track and one turn track as well.

The sale had nothing to do with GRNSW. They supplied race dates and the obligatory D Class prizemoney allotment.
I tried to find a copy of the Chase Magazine, where Steve stated they had preliminary plans drawn up for a One/Turn track, Biggest in Aust with 5 distances from memory. Longest being around 650?
Will keep looking

Hi Terry,
I appreciate that GRNSW didnt have anything to do with the sale and never stated so. The land was pretty much privately owned.

However, when building a new track and wanting racing dates, the consortium would be at the mercy of GRNSW and if desiring TAB dates, Tabcorp.

Can the money go over the border ?

Terry,
If the consortium had that much money to invest in the industry and if I were the CEO id be having meetings with them regularly, especially if its not going to cost the industry like other tracks are doing. If theyre self-sufficient and have welfare at the centre of their plans, and one of the tracks up there has to go well that would only be a positive and a green light.

There is no consortium or CEO Mark! Just a HUGH CHEQUE and race Manager Steve McGrath overseeing operations. (Other Staff?)
Could form a consortium to join with Lismore! Shared track?
Why something hasn't been nutted out by now beggars belief!

I mean CEO of GRNSW

Can money go over the border ?

The last eighteen months wouldve been difficult to work out anything because of the Ban.

Yes it can! They have had talks with RQ. Fruitless & Futile.
Mark over the last FEW months, Vic, Qld, & SA Greyhounds have had Prizemoney Increases, Breeding Fee's frozen, Pup/Owner incentive schemes introduced. We GRNSW are dragging the chain noticeable. When will we see/feel something positive? Are we about to get
Hammered with a new Fee/structure. If so they need TO JUSTIFY WHY.

PRESS RELEASE 09/03/2018

"Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has charged four greyhound racing participants with multiple offences as part of the ongoing inquiry into the unauthorised exports of greyhounds to China and Macau.

Greyhound racing participants Paul Wheeler, Danny Li, Wei Shan and Yiwen Xi face charges in relation to the alleged export of nine greyhounds to China without a greyhound passport and certified pedigree issued by Greyhounds Australasia. They have also been charged with conduct detrimental or prejudicial to the interest, welfare, image, control and promotion of greyhound racing.

The four men each face additional charges relating to the alleged failure to notify GRNSW of exports under the GRNSW Racing Rules. Danny Li, Wei Shan and Yiwen Xi each face additional charges relating to their alleged failure to attend or produce documents to the Inquiry, as directed.

The participants will have an opportunity to respond to the charges at a hearing, scheduled to take place at the end of March 2018.

GRNSW intends to make no further comment about the charges until a determination is made.

On 23 October 2017, GRNSW previously announced the disqualification of 3 other participants as part of the inquiry.

GRNSW reminds all participants that any person intending to export a greyhound must, prior to meeting the quarantine and inspection service requirements of the relevant country, obtain a greyhound passport and certified pedigree issued by Greyhounds Australasia.

GRNSW encourages anyone who may have information about the unauthorised exportation of greyhounds to contact the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Hotline on 1800 600 174 o EXTERNAL LINK to ensure the matter can be fully investigated."

So, we have another CEO. This time for our Greyhound Welfare Integrity Commission (GWIC). She has experience with ASADA and Aus Crime Commission (ACC) . Talk about overkill at our expense!

It will be interesting to see someone challenge these charges in a court of law. You can sell a horse to China but not a dog! Would love to have the coin to challenge! GRNSW banks on the fear factor to keep participants in line but I see the export rules as a restriction of trade and discrimination.

I heard our leaders have recently arrived back from NZ and are planning visits to the USA n England. I thought they knew what the problems are ? The Board would surely have approved the visits.

Meanwhile, choke, choke.

NSW Participants will get nothing because the money is being gobbled up by the new set up at Bathurst, how good does the 42 million B.S. and his GBOTA rolled over for look now ?
