Sorry Boy's I was being facetious, he is about as common as the Scarlet Pimpernel. And as useful to Greyhound Racing as an Ash/tray on a Motorbike! imo

Ask john chapman about toole, he went to his office where staff mistakingly took him for a greenie and explained to him how they are going about closing us down in a different way now as they got it wrong the first time. And actions speak louder than words.

Its alleged Gladys told a concerned Greenie / Animal Lover that the Government gave the Industry an amount that would lead to the Industrys own demise and no political party would be blamed.
Here are my figure estimates
The Gov't gave the Industry $41 million over five years that is, $30 million to GRNSW and $11 million to GWIC. Now, these are my approximate figures below.
GWIC
Formula 60 staff x salary x (one or five years) + Commissioners + CEO =
60 x $50,000 x 1 = $3 million + $600,000 + $400,000 = $4 million x 5 = $20 million
60 x $75,000 x 1 = $4.5 million +$600,000 + $400,000 =$5.5 million x 5 =$27.5 million
60 x $100,000 x 1 = $6 million + ($1 million) =$7 million x 5 =$35 million
This is based on the assumption of three different salaries and does not include other costs associated with operating the authority. They advertised Compliance Officer positions for a salary of $113,000 p.a.
They are only going to receive $11 million over five (5) years !
GRNSW These are guestimates
Cost of prosecutions = $1 million (exports and other) Cost of The Gardens Reconstruction = $ 800,000 Cost of Gosford Reconstruction = $ 800,000 Cost of Gunnedah Reconstruction = $ ?
This is only the first financial year. There have been other improvements to other tracks.
Where are the improvements to amenities ?
What has happened to the Tax Parity monies ?
Why hasn't there been a prize money increase ?

Looking at Sunday's meetings around Australia-
Victoria has 3 TAB meetings S.A. has 2 TAB meetings Queensland and the N.T. both have one TAB meeting each.
Following the unfortunate demise of the Canberra TAB meetings two weeks ago, I can't understand why there is not a NSW TAB meeting.
The Muswellbrook non TAB meeting is the only meeting held for the day, with prize money ranging from $210 to $350 to the winners.
Is this the best the NSW hierarchy can do ?

There are rumours Qld are toying with cutting weekend meetings out! And having more week/day meetings. Will certainly stretch the Dog shortage a bit more.

Ian,
Penalty rates.
Relatively, Sundays are not good turnover generators.
GBOTA long ago opposed Sunday racing (mind you, I also remember a time when the Vic government banned football on Sundays).
Most Sunday meetings are so scheduled because they can't get a run on the other six days.
It might depend on the ratio of volunteers to paid staff.
The ACT is someone else's problem, not GRNSW'.
GRNSW is not geared to handle problems and challenges.
Good triers at Muswellbrook but the 429m start is a disaster.
Goulbourn is the obvious solution on several counts but how would that fit into any potential cutback of clubs or meetings?
etc etc

if you want to know what is wrong with GRNSW , start by contrasting the efforts being made by the GRV,including involving a number of participants in various studies/processes.I have attached a link to the GRV's May monthly publication.
CLICK HERE GRNSW appear focused on retribution and prosecution notches on their belt- racing and the sport's development isn't a priority.

TJ, have no idea where that rumour came from or if it is true...could just be the famous industry grapevine getting it wrong yet again...hope so. Axing Sundays would be shooting themselves in the foot. They are trying to entice interstate dogs but Sundays is the most popular with NSW participants for various reasons. Saturday Ippy struggles for noms because too late for most interstate participants...same as Mondays. If they move more meetings mid week(where?)those meetings might clash with local NSW meetings...what's the point some may ask of travelling to Qld when they can race an hour away?
They would be far better say bringing back double prize money for 5th grade finals on Sat and Mons to entice more participants. In fact they could do that for ALL days because it's all looking pretty sad.

Nicholas,
Your link does not work for me - but I read the GRV material regularly anyway.
However, those Monthly bulletins are invariably lists of "what good fellas we are" stuff. What they actually achieve is more questionable.
Anyway, VIC/NSW comparisons are odious because circumstances are radically different. Finances are lousy in NSW but quite fair in Vic, mainly due to more favourable treatment of commissions and government grants. Baird and Grant did not operate in Vic (lucky for them). Both states pounded the euthanasia/overbreeding dilemma with flawed justification and similar breeding downturns. GRV dropped out of any defence of new housekeeping regulations, thereby allowing the pet regulators to take over.
Essentially, the GRV answer has been to fiddle with administrative devices - fees, grading, etc - rather than to establish (or disclose) the fundamental causes of breeding downturns or changes in patronage. NSW has been no better. Short fields are equally common in Vic, or more so, than in NSW
Your final sentence belies the ongoing dissatisfaction at ground level with the aftermath of live baiting or drug convictions in Victoria.
Generally, the appearance of activity does not necessarily mean activity is taking place.

If the greyhound breeding industry in Queensland is not addressed ASAP, that won't be a rumour TJ. It'll be fact.
Anyway, whatever happens NOW will be all too little too late as the sunsets once again.

Very obviously Toole by name and tool by nature. If these statements can be proven why are we not attacking these people?Probably time Gladys got the heat put on her as well she has done nothing for greyhounds

SANDRO, can you please let us know at least what is being discussed regarding future plans for the industry and what actions are being taken [if any] It would be appreciated if we can get some first hand info from you, Regards bill.

Ill go along with the flow. If Qld is suffering (like most States) from a number of reasons and if NSW put a $500 bond on each puppy, transport companies will either be very busy or not busy at all !

He spun the line it was only casual staff at his casual lithgow office and they got the message confused? Toole called chappo personally on a weekend, who else gets that response?

We could do with more angels up and down the east coast.

Yep, sure could, Mark. Maybe there is a little reason within the message. I wouldn't be shy in emailing the above two with anything NSW participants want voiced.
