I'm a bit late to post but Townsville's Winter Carnival started last Tuesday with the heats of the now named Grad Prix (winter cup). With the final to be run this Tuesday!

The carnival works hand in hand with the Cairns Cup program where the Townsville Greyhounds then have the RQ Maiden 1000's heats next week before a short break for the local show. During this two week break the Cairns Cup is on. Then straight onto the Townsville Cup program.

Follow along via the Townsville Greyhound Clubs Facebook page where we have regular updates on the events to come.

Only the one scratching for tonight's $6600 feature race at the Townwville Showgrounds.

Innocent Man is out and Slow Dancer is into box 3. Percy's alas will start favourite but Vthere isn't much in the betting between the 2 Rocky visitors.

James, with the upcoming Townsville Cup is there any guarantee that we won't have the disaster of 2 years ago with a lure breakdown on finals night then the board verbally approving the final to be run the following week but then withdrawing their approval because expense were sought for the 2 Brisbane finalist. We had flown ours up from Melbourne at our cost not looking for any hand out but not givin the opportunity she earnt to compete in her Group 3 final.
I understand a backup lure was purchased for the club to ensure no lure issue will cause a cancellation again, is this correct?

Am I hearing correctly on the grape vine that the club is proactively inviting some southern state visitors to nominate & the inference is covering some costs.
