rep said new nothing about the sellout rubbish.
party not up front i think.

Dont know what youre bellowing about Robert SFFP preferenced Hinch way down the list in your region (about 19th in Eastern Vic) so didnt affect that vote at all !!!

There are 8 regions and the preference deals in each region are very different. SFFP put Hinch high up in two of those regions and in varying positions down the list in the 6 other regions all as part of state wide preference deals.

If minor parties dont do preference deals they have NO HOPE of getting elected. If they do preference deals then they have some hope but no guarantee.

Theres no value unless you are in the game. You cant achieve anything sitting on the sidelines.

Well done Geoff, you gave it your best and actually did something instead of just talking about it.

Party preferences are lodged with the VEC about 12 days prior to the election.

Our preferences are nowhere near as important to us as the preferences we get from other parties. Preferences are only distributed as the party is eliminated so they dont directly impact on our vote

To get a seat (quota) in each region you have to poll around 17% of the vote. If you dont get that in the primaries, you then go to preferences. There is usually only one of the five seats in each region that is decided by preferences, sometimes two.

Once the primary votes are counted they start eliminating parties from the bottom and distributing their preferences

For example, we should get around 20,000 primary votes in Western Vic. A quota will be about 80,000 so were 60,000 short. Thats where we need the preferences from the other parties that are part of the deals done and lodged 12 days earlier

If Hinch stays below us and consequently goes out before us, he wont get our preferences so it wont matter

Thanks Tony .. I've had a heap of texts and emails in support so a few dissenters isn't a worry

I think the most important thing is that to maximize your vote, regardless of which party you are, you rely on two things. Media and volunteers. Media costs money or requires contacts with the industry, but anyone can volunteer.

So, with the election coming up in NSW it's important for those who can volunteer to deliver pamphlets or stand at pre-poll booths to let organizers know what you're happy to do and how much time you're willing to spend. All parties have lists of both members and volunteers, you don't have to be a member of a party to volunteer your time and when you do volunteer and you make it clear that greyhound racing is the reason you're volunteering, that makes a difference to how the sport is viewed politically.

I would also suggest that if you're one of the parties that supported greyhound racing during the ban, you should try and get a representative to tracks/trial tracks/GBOTA branch meetings and explain what is involved in volunteering, why you should put your hand up (obviously because it strengthens the position of greyhound racing politically) and sign up people in preparation for the next election. I hear this has already begun.

Get active, get organized.

This was meant for Robert Conway.

How about you clean the sh*t of your own boot before you try sticking it into someone who had a crack?
Your attitude towards Geoff is a disgrace.

Having such a large primary vote will ensure that next time the SFFP get to broker preference deals - they will have a pretty strong hand you would hope.
You would also like to think that even if Hinch does get a seat - he will acknowledge to some extent where those preferences came from.

Congratulations Geoff on actually doing something to try and help.
I hope you run again.

if you want to lie down , just look at florida

im in adelaide and if there was a SFFP here id be first to volunteer

It appears that not one SFF candidate was elected to the Upper House in Victoria State Election. With what I have seen in NSW I can understand why. Beware of One Nation. Theyre coming and moving quickly.

Still too early to call Mark .. 80/90% of the votes counted and it's excruciatingly close in a number of regions .. we've gone from 2 to 0 to 1 to 2 to 1 to 0 to 1 over the last few days .. at the moment we have one in as Wayne Rigg is in front in West Metro but only a few days ago Jeff Bourman was in front in East Vic .. both myself and Daniel Young are just out in West and North respectively ... December 11th is the deadline but hopefully we'll find out before then

You might obtain the information from them, but I know of so called members who have not been informed they are members. Theyre amateurish in a professional environment.
