Andrew , That is another Issue that is dear to my Heart No Greyhound should be Put Down because it can not Run Fast . Here in Victoria there has been a enormous support in the Adoption Program and is a credit to all Participates and is who have taken this on Board , Yes the Animal always comes First and I would say even in NSW 99 % of you think the same. The GRV once again deserve to be congratulated on this Issue for they would agree with my opening statement , these are special Animals .
The crime that has been committed is that the future of the industry in NSW has been decided on past practices.
No regard has been given at all for the work that GRNSW has done to prepare for a future with out the need for live baiting and reduced breeding numbers and the increased controls and professionalism of the sport
We were all assisting in bringing in the new reforms and getting on board with them regardless of how strange they first seemed.
But we were getting on with it, so that we could have a future.
Saddened to hear already that part of the (Nsw Baird) Government's supposed 'plan' following the closure of the local (Nsw) greyhound INDUSTRY (yes, that is an important term / word; if only "they" remembered and acknowledged it!), is that they intend to use serving members of the Nsw Police Force to "assist in the [en masse] euthanasia of greyhounds that will need to be put down".
How utterly tragic and disgusting is THAT?
Anthony - please could you direct me to exactly where it states that "serving members of the NSW Police Force will assist in the en masse euthanasia of greyhounds ......"
Madeleine, perhaps you may like to contact the following for further details:
Once you've spoken with Mr Grant, I'd sure be interested in what his response is!
[Pawnote: I see Minister Grant has no less than TEN Media Releases all dated today on his website page .... NOT ONE WORD could I find about the Greyhound Racing Industry announcement .... Again, coincidence .... or not?!?!]
So where have you found this Anthony as there is nothing on his web site or his Facebook page??

From the Nsw State "Justice" Department Q & A document (clearly they use that term rather loosely!!!)
"What will happen to the animals and what is Government doing about this?:
As of July 7 2016 there 6,809 are registered greyhounds in NSW. The NSW Government will support RSPCA NSW to help ensure greyhounds are treated humanely once transitioned out of the industry. The options for these animals will include:  Remaining in their current home;  Rehomed through an adoption program;  Transferred interstate or overseas to jurisdictions that have appropriate animal welfare standards; or  Humane euthanasia. The Government will provide the RSPCA and the NSW Police Force with the means to oversee the humane treatment of greyhounds as the industry is shut down. "
Bernard, what makes you think that wasn't the case they were presented with? The NSW Government were presented with this choice when they had the vote on tax parity, but they refused to put the money into welfare initiatives.
It's not that I don't understand where you're coming from, but the NSW Government took the money and ran. If they cared about greyhounds, they'd have put some money into a fund for them like they'd been asked hundreds of times by participants. I don't think you understand just how hypocritical and underhanded these guys have been, they are blaming other people for their own failures.

From Inquiry
1.42. It is an industry where, as Chapter 17 details, many trainers appear to prefer cheap and sometimes painful methods of treating greyhound injuries instead of using the services of qualified veterinary surgeons.
The commission took evidence from 4 vets
Dr Karen Dawson Dr Leonie Finster Dr Jade Norris Dr Elizabeth Arnott
NSW participants have been asking to be run like GRV, people have been on this forum saying that for years. The NSW Government appoint the people to run GRNSW, it is they who have made the decision not to run it like GRV, but want to pretend they didn't.

They all blame un qualified muscle men
The rise of the muscle men 17.34 The Commissions investigations revealed that muscle men unqualified persons who hold themselves out as being able to treat injuries and illnesses of greyhounds play an increasingly significant role in the greyhound racing industry in NSW. As will be seen, Dr Finster gave evidence that the use of muscle men is very widespread in NSW.723

I have no confidence that this decision to ban racing can be reversed I am personally shattered I have tens of thousands invested in the industry but the money doesn't matter greyhound racing and the love of the breed is my hobby and my passion can't believe the lies and sensationalism that have been told to bring this great sport down! If this ban is to go through are we still able to breed in nsw and race in other states ??
