Greyhound trainers/owners/breeders commit to provide care within the standards laid out by the authorities of the industry. They hold themselves responsible for the continued care of their much loved greyhounds & meet the standards already set.
It is not appreciated when they are branded as irresponsible all due to a few who choose to break the required standard level & act illegally in using live bating to enhance their results.
In the issues that have come to the fore in the greyhound industry, I personally believe that the waters have been muddied due to the irresponsible decisions made by authorities to ban greyhound industry in NSW.
Surely none of this would have eventuated if the governing greyhound body of authority had done its job in monitoring that all trainers/owners/breeders were abiding by the rules & standards of the industry.
The outcome is grossly unfair with many responsible people having their livelihoods taken from them in spite of doing the right thing.
Legal action maybe the only recourse if the stakes are high enough.
NSW government having cut off a huge revenue stream, will they now sell off venues to pay compensation.

End of Greyhound racing NSW is devastating enough to all those involved but the compensation of $500 per dog is spiteful, vindictive. I don't believe they haven't done a cost model for trainers they know the true costs. If your a pro trainer that owns or buying there home / property my compensation figure is way higher than $500, I'm no accountant but 25-30k per dog would be a maybe break even compensation.
This decision by Cok Hd will not only wreck many good people's lives but it will cost the NSW tax payer big time if justice is achieved.

I was at work had more time and paid $50 for a cab to drop off clothes to work and had 15 minutes to change after working 12 hours because I will stand with everyone and fight because it is more than me it is about all of us!

Personal likes or dislikes or agendas are now over!

We should stand as one!

I'm up for the fight!

Just doing some maths......

If 10,000 pups/racedogs/broodies were surrended and owners given compensation at $500 each that would be $5 million, 10,000 pups/racedogs/broodies were surrended at $1000 each that would be $10 million, 10,000 pups/racedogs/broodies were surrended at $1500 each that would be $15 million,

If 20,000 pups/racedogs/broodies were surrended at $500 each that would be $10 million, 10,000 pups/racedogs/broodies were surrended at $1000 each that would be $20 million, 10,000 pups/racedogs/broodies were surrended at $1500 each that would be $30 million......

How much will the Baird government want to pay in compensation.......I'd say close to $0.00. Add to this greyhound racing in NSW is entitled to 13% TAB turnover for 99 years. Where will this 13% now go? Or will the itercode agreement be convieniently rewritten now? Hypocritical it couldn't be rewritten while greyhound racing was contributing close to 20% of turnover.

what is 1 wk of not racing supposed to achieve? to me it just gives the system without greyhounds a free hit. EG If TAB revenue is unchanged, it is a huge hit.

The government receive money from the punter ....
I stated earlier pools weren't being shown as a cover up on a trend that was clearly happening ...
Now only hours after all this hypocritical nonsense ... Nsw pools are back on the rise
Hang your heads in shame ... It should sicken you to even consider handing over another dollar to these bastards !!!
1 week no racing !!! Laughable
Everyone should nominate to closest borders up or down for a month while unification takes place and legal action takes place for slander !!!
Stop betting
Nom north and south of the border for as long as it takes
If u turn up to nsw track on their accord ... Your a desperate!!!

Now we know why the report was postponed each time.
Because if it was released before the election, the
liberals and greenies would have suffered a complete and
utter wipeout.
Preferences will flow readily now between these two parties.
The tracks will be sold off to pay a paltry compensation,
and the chinese investments will fund other projects!
Yet both parties claim to govern for the people! Bullshit!!!
What about the given lies, with the regulations and further
cost of kennel constructions etc!

greyhounds born december 2008 to december 2009.

9897 born that year, i say breeding would be at it peak then,

going on those figures , i wont include 2016,

over the past 12 years there where in nsw 118,764 born pups.

minus 68,000 pups put to sleep by the report,

leave 50764 pups made racing,

that leaves 4230 pups to race per year,

with 23 tracks in nsw, times that by twelve races per meeting by 8 dogs per race, thats 276 races, per week, that 2208 dogs a week, so there 2022 sitting at home in the kennels, or spread out over australia. this figure of 68,000 is inpossible, that have been put to sleep over the last twelve years. i reckon they included the rspca figure of dogs that the rspca have put to sleep, rember these pups born each month over the year have to be reared,

Interesting theory put forward tonight. Greyhound racing takes away from gambling in casinos as well. Asians love to bet on the dogs, a thought that just maybe the dogs are in the way of extra funds for someone's major casino development. Very disillusioned with all pollies now. This family has voted Lib for years, no more, wouldn't waste my time voting now, Baird may have won so far, but the biggest loser is democracy. $500 for a dog??? That amount is an insult to the majority of participants. Sit down and add up everything your dogs have cost - it is staggering and as a friend said to me tonight, vets will have to charge a hell of a lot for others treatments if g/h vets because there won't be any to treat. Whatever the reason, I do think that there are wheels within wheels and because there was no leadership Aust. wide, NSW has paid the price.

Bravo to Sky News (Channel 601) Journalist Paul Murray, for calling Baird out & seeing today's decision for what it is: a shameful grab for land assets; money; & political favour / vote from the Animal Justice nutter in Nsw State Parliament. Will try to find & post it...
