Steven,

I have to make a yes/no response to the announcement, mostly because I have always suggested that Group prize money has grown too large by comparison to daily 5th Grades.

However, this time the $1m crowd puller is undoubtedly a winner. It will get through to all and sundry and promote discussion - good and bad - across the state. The accompanying trick will be to present the "Story of the Greyhound" at the same time, allowing the public to better understand what makes the canine athlete tick. One is the trigger, the other the bullet, so to speak.

Almost as important is that a big slice of the prize is a government initiative (taken from a community budget) organised by a Minister who voted in favour of the ban!!!

Yes, of course, it's political so perhaps some credit should go to Borsak/SFF who has obviously hit a nerve in the Lib/NP.

Note that ABC TV midday news ran it today, using an interview with its political reporter.

Follow up and more follow up, please

The ABC couldn't help itself with its bias against Greyhound Racing. Brigit Glanville told all and sundry that the Government had never given thoroughbreds any money from the public purse!. She's either incompetent or lazy as it was during the height of the fight against the ban, some 2 years ago now, that Troy Grant gave the thoroughbreds quite a tidy sum of money, $204 Million to be exact, to ensure its viability into the future.

Joe,
Can you go on her twitter feed and mention the truth ? That is poor journalism. We know they receive funding from Gov't e.g. the Everest, increase in prize money for country horse !

They take our share from the ICA, Tax Harmonisation and now PoCT !

Grnsw should start suing these bastards that come up with such ridiculous statements against our sport without substantial evidence and with false figures etc. etc.How much money did the thoroughbred industry get when the equine flu was around?????

Hi Bill. I'm glad you listened & voiced an opinion. This topic on wellfare that Ray's brought to the surface again (thx to Smithy) smells like a rat, & we should all be voicing our concerns.

Like Ray said, are the retired greyhounds that have been placed with families getting harassed by GWIC? If not, why not?

I think we all know why.

They will do what they need to justify their existence and are aided by ridiculous and unwarranted Greyhounds Australasia rules and piss weak governance at state levels that give breath to these rules. Like auditors they will keep moving the goal posts to remain relevant, their mortgages depend on it

they will fight on your behalf. they hate seeing decent people getting screwed over.

Compliments from 2GB & Ray Hadley

The greyhound industry is close to being policed out of existence, according to One Nations Mark Latham.

After former premier Mike Baird famously backflipped on his greyhound racing ban, the Greyhounds Welfare and Integrity Commission was established to clean up the industry.

But Ray Hadley, who fought tooth and nail for the ban to be overturned, has now received evidence the commission is acting maliciously.

NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham tells Ray the commission is close to policing the industry out of existence.

I think theyre out of control.

Many good people are leaving the greyhound industry feeling like its become a police state, that the regulations and inspections are way over the top.

They should have stewards and inspectors under the control of Greyhound Racing NSW. One body, one jurisdiction, just as you find in the other racing sectors.

This GWIC employee must be sacked not only for what he has said but also because his attitude towards trainers will inhibit him from dealing with his duties impartially.
I have written to the GBOTA asking their reaction & recommending they call for this employee to be dismissed.
Maybe a few emails to GWIC by Trainers & Owners would force GWIC into action.

And he is 100% right

The Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds should be renamed

The Coalition for the Protection of Their Cushy Jobs

They do anything but protect greyhounds, if it was up to them there would be no greyhounds left
