Tina, why no videos for Monday night on the IGB website? I am sure I saw the video man there.

Hi Ian. Yes the video man was there. Unfortunately at very short notice the IGB has stopped the operation of the Tote at Longford on Monday nights. As the system is all linked no videoes can be uploaded to the igb site.
This is bad news for owners and patrons - not only can they not bet on the Tote on Monday nights but they cant look at the videos the next day. This will obviously affect the sale of dogs from the track. Owners who live abroad or cant travel will be unable to see their dogs run.
Also if track performance is based on Tote turnover for the year, its hardly fair to cut Tote facilities to one night. Its a constant challenge to keep Longford open and this move by the igb will have serious consequences if not addressed quickly.

Instead of closing Tote facilities on a Monday would it not make more sense to give them a Grant to build bar/restaurant with integrated toilets under the same roof that are disabled friendly.Longford hold a lot of very successful benefit nights and with upgraded facilities these nights would be Huge.At the moment you have to carry a wheel chair up steps to the bar to keep warm and carry it back down again outside in all the elements to get to the toilet. All the staff and committee work their butts off,the track is very safe, everyone is warm and friendly,so all thats needed from igb/Tote is help such as a Grant instead of being a hindrance.J.M.O.

It is very worrying that the IGB can close down the Tote facility at such short notice. I totally agree with you David that Longford is a really safe track and the patrons are very friendly. They do fantastic work with limited resources.

Im just wondering and this is just my opinion is there something more behind this in that we are now just six or seven weeks away from the extra meetings in Mullingar for the christmas period and is it the boards way of trying to entice owners to run there dogs in Mullingar in turn to build up the pool of dogs for christmas period . There was talk about a proposed Tuesday morning bags meeting also starting in mullingar maybe this could now be coming on stream after xmas and they would have the pool of dogs for it? This is just my opinion.

Peter, your information is incorrect. Longford Track Supporters Club will be posting on a seperate thread later today seeking support to remedy the situation. Should the IGB get away with this in Longford there are probably a few other tracks that they will take on soon after.

Thats ok im just writeing what i was told as i was disquised when i heard this and i then questioned it with a longford regular and this is what i was told

I believe this is awful treatment from the board

I would have posted on this on tuesday morning thats why i asked before

But when i was told it would be sorted this week and will be back up and running for this monday i felt there was no reason to post
