It looks like that this might be the start of a death by a thousand cuts strategy designed to undermine Longford.Longford is a grass roots track run by greyhound enthusiasts for greyhound people who love the easy running nature of the circuit and have no wish to run elsewhere.
Derry is expected to go soon and many believe that Lifford's long term future is not bright - neither of these because there are no dogs.If we were to lose Longford as well it would leave a huge gap in opportunities for owners, trainers and breeders north of Dublin and along the Border counties (both sides). How does this fit with IGB'S mandate to promote and develop greyhound racing?

PS couldnt the videos be put up on Data like Dundalk used to do.

It appears the crisis is averted as of this evening and that normal service will resume on Monday. Good news that this situation has been resolved speedily to all parties satisfaction.

Unfortunately tonight's meeting will not go ahead. Despite the best efforts the track is still not fit for racing. The safety of the dogs is a priority so tonight's card will be run next Monday night.

**Newsflash** We are delighted to announce that Howard Wallace and Francis Murray have agreed to sponsor the Longford Derby again in June. Howard and Francis are great supporters of the track. Not only are they sponsoring again but they are upping the prize fund! The winner will now receive 8000 up from 5000. What a great boost for Longford's flagship event :)
