Colleen McErlean:

Minutes from meeting

OCTOBER 2016 AT DRUMBO PARK:

A) Click Cowan opened the floor to nominations for secretary, Colleen McErlean was nominated and appointed as new secretary.

B) The first Drumbo track supporters club event will be the Robert Connolly memorial commencing in December. Kieran Connolly has confirmed that Drumbo track supporter club will have first preference on entry to this competition. On this note members who have joined after the 31st October 2016 will serve a 1 month probation period barring them from upcoming Drumbo track supporters club sweepstakes.

C) Martin Lavery has kindly decided to sponsor a sweepstake in January 2017 in conjunction with Drumbo track supporters club. The group agreed that sponsorship should be divided between two completions a sprint and a middle distance competition. The grade to be decided by a draw. It has also been agreed that all members are encouraged to attract future sponsors and methods that will enhance racing at Drumbo Park for our members and supporters.

D) In order to bring in further funding a Track Lotto system has been agreed. Two members will be nominated each week from the current list of members to volunteer and this will need to be rotated on a weekly basis with all current members required to take a turn at selling lotto tickets. They will sell track lotto at front entrance until 8pm, The lotto will be held on a Saturday night. The track lotto will run through the last 3 races with a full field on a Saturday night so it does not affect the tote pick 6, however this has yet to be accepted and agreed by track management, but we see no problems arising from this proposal.

E) Numerous suggestions and ideas have been raised at the meeting on the night to improve racing at Drumbo Park, All members have been advised to put these in writing and place them in the suggestion box provided in the Owner and Trainers Cabin. These issues will be raised with John-Paul Connor and will hopefully be answered at the next Drumbo Track Supporters Club meeting.

F) At the last count the Drumbo Track Supporters Club currently have 200 members recorded and still growing and other members are still welcomed to come onboard and pay the 5 yearly membership fee. It was agreed to keep the membership open indefinitely but the membership year would run until 1st September 2017.

G) It was confirmed to members the weekly sponsorship of race would commence first weekend of November. The draw for sponsored race to be made in tea room in open draw before racing on a Friday night by committee members.

Colleen McErlean Drumbo Track Supporters Club

Secretary.

There seems to be a buzz about drombo race track now the clubs up and running, members willing to help in any way they can,its great to see and their activly trying for more sponsorship for the races, which brings me the idea of asking would Drumbo restaurant perhaps be willing to give the supporters club a donation of say 50 per week towards our stakes.as most of our families use its website to book nights out throughout the year.its all about swings an roundabouts as this money will be ploughed back intotrack improvements and better racing for everyone.i hope someone upstairs reads this and considers it.

Your 100% right Barney.Drumbo are drawing crowd's from all over. The only way is up if we can attract the right sponsor's etc then there is no reason why we can't put on night's like the Gold Cup on a qaurterly basis this should be the aim.It would be great if we could get our classic's established for talks sake Derby, oak's,National sprint, puppy cup.We already have the leading trainers traveling from all over and it's by no mean's impossible. The Gold Cup and Jackie McCann are just an appetizer of what can be achieved. We need forward thinking people to make this work and in my own humble opinion for what it's worth the wheel's are in motion.Fair play Barney for putting your idea's forward there's no point sitting on your hand's hoping that other's will do it for us.While trainer's and Breeder's are walking away from the sport at other track's i personally felt inspired to learn during the week that Tommy Light a small yard man like most of us took the plunge and bred two litter's this year that's a big statement from one man for the buzz that is going around Drumbo at the minute.

IT WOULD BE GREAT TO GET THE NORTHERN DERBY UP AND RUNNING ALONG WITH OAKS ECT AND I KNOW PEOPLE ARE WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES TRYING TO GET THE SPONSORS IN FOR SUCH EVENTS, OVER 200 MEMBERS IN THE TRACK SUPPORTERS CLUB PUTS THE TRACK IN A STRONGER POSITION WHEN TRYING TO BRING THE SPONSORS IN IN MY OPINION,GOOD PRIZE MONEY AND GOOD DOGS BRINGS MANY AN OLD FACE BACK TO THE TRACK AND HOPEFULLY SOME OF THEM CATCH THE BUG AGAIN AND ARE ENCOURAGED BY WHAT THE TRACK SUPPORTERS CLUB AND THE TRACK MANAGEMENT ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE.

Agreement has been reached with track management to commence lotto this Saturday .

The format has changed to selecting 3 numbers out of a possible 40 . The initial jackpot is 200 which will increase each week by 25 if jackpot is not won .

Members will be selling tickets on Friday and Saturday night at the track and the lotto draw will be made in front of the stands at bookmakers pitches after the 5th race .

Hopefully all will get behind the lotto to support our sponsorship of races.

Special word of thanks to Tommy Hasson (Derry) for his help and advice on setting up lotto .

Bobby

Format of lotto -- yes same as National Lottery - pick your own three numbers on card out of a choice of 40 numbers . You keep a copy and Club keep copy of your choice.

Tickets sold on Friday and Saturday night (1 a ticket) for the one draw on a Saturday Night .

Thanks for the offer of help , we hope all the members will get involved in selling tickets.
