This is the questions & anwsers with John Connor Racing manager. Committee meeting with Racing manager Monday 27th Feb 2017 :
In attendance Click Cowan, Kieran Connolly, Nigel Bain, David McErlean and John-Paul Connor (racing manager)
Questions and answers with John-Paul Connor.
Q) How often is the track sanded? A) The track is sanded once a week and if and when needed.
Q) Adults and children are to close and causing a distraction to the dogs at the 525 boxes can anything be done about this? A) We are currently looking into a solution to this problem which can be quickly put into place and easily removed if and so needed, as a more permanent solution is not viable and would break health and safety laws as this is an access point for ambulance, fire brigade etc.
Q)Has Drumbo its self any more race nights planned? A) We have 5/6 nights pencilled into diary for 2017 i.e. May Day and holiday breaks.
Q) People are ringing racing office at 10am on Friday mornings yet still get late on trials can you explain why? A) Trials are appointed in a 4minute slot meaning 15 trials per hour therefore between 6pm-9pm there are currently 45 trials these trials don't be long going. There are currently 4-5 trainers with block bookings on a weekly basis consisting of 2 plus trials each, but this will cease and all trials will be fairly booked on a basis of first come first served. Another problem is at 6pm on Monday evenings the carpark has roughly 10 cars all looking the 6pm booking slot this is causing frustrations among patrons and management.
Q) Have track had any more progress on sponsorship of major competitions : A) Track are currently pursuing other options for sponsorship of major competitions throughout the year . This years puppy Cup in May will be sponsored by the Irish coursing Club .
John-Paul Connor also stated as of Friday 10th March 2017 all patrons parading a dog must wear the coats provided by Drumbo, refusal to wear a coat when needed will result in the racing dog being withdrawn from the race.
We would like to thank everybody for there input and to thank John- Paul Connor for his support and time, looking forward Drumbo hopefully has a very bright future with plenty of sponsors and big nights. Also would like to keep encouraging our members to keep putting there thoughts and queries forward into to the suggestions box.

A great reply and im really impressed with this report ,i suppose the best answer was the blocking of the pre booking of private trials this was always my suspicion ,but now its first come first served. we all get a chance now.these are the reasons i was delighted to see this club get of the ground, well done to the committee and well done to john conner for excepting it for what it is,helping drumo park Move Forward.

dont like the idea of being ordered to use coats could be full of fleas or infections next they will want us to put their coats on our dogs. could there be a health issue here . if they want us to wear coats track should provide each owner/trainer with individual coats only to be worn by that person.

does it mean all people going out have to wear the coats including kennel hands and control stewards ie, ALEX.ADRIAN.PHILLIP. would hardly be right for staff to walk out looking shabby. are they suggesting trainers/owners lower the tone. i believe the dog wearing the proper identifying sheet is all that is needed public want to watch there selection not whos walking beside it

Now why would control stewards wear coats? Do you not watch tele the dog handlers wear the coats all of england n ireland tracks supply coats for the dog handlers alone.unless you've been somewhere foreign Robert Irvine.why dont you wear that black frier tuck one you got at the boot sale ha ha .

Dear Michael,
it was very exciting to spot Rafa's Wee Pet with a runner in the final last night. I haven't been following the Drumbo form recently so I'm more familiar with the broods than the current talent. Your bitch ran a very gutsy race and I think Skywalker Farloe will be very pleased to have a bitch lined up with such wonderful bloodlines and race attitude.
Thank you also to Oceanfeed for sponsoring the competition. It was a thrilling finish!
