 I do not think that you can remove them at the moment.

 Hi guys, I have the same problem. They cannot be removed. I have brought this up with the IT many times and will certainly do so again. It certainly is annoying.

I've sent 3 messages in the past week to various
people without a response.

They are either ignoring me or haven't received my message.
