Cousin Nigel has fond memories of Hymerstown Joe. A prolific winner and last dog he remembers to take part in a 2 dog match race.

All those names bring back very fond memories Thomas. And you're right that nothing could come close to it for a track suiting dogs with pace and with all sides of the betting ring lined with bookies it was a gamblers paradise. Watching for a 'move' was part of the fun. The Connellys were awesome bookies.

Awh Thomas, we must catch up for a chat about old times. Even as a teenager I remember the gambling owners talking about where they'd station themselves to get the best price. Someone was always positioned beside Charlie. Paul was my favourite bookie and after a few decades away from the sport it was great to see him at Dundalk one night a few years ago. Now it's up to Kieran to carry on the legacy.

You've a great memory for names and times and we must capture those as best we can.

If you had a hound breaking 24 secs then you had a very decent prospect on your hands so that run by Arcadian Prince was blistering.

Like you I regret not having the chance to race the hounds I train myself at Dunmore. I always wanted to win the SP Graham 700. Loved that competition.

Toy boy was smashing dog click some thought a bit jady rem him a competion that was live on the bbc I think not 100% if it was run the same nite as Guinness Irish national sprint could of been was over 600yds anything that broke 24sec was useful Lynda but more so if u broke 30sec for 525 rem drapers autumn doin 29.19 was huge run don't ever think anything got close mayo madness trained by Robert Robinson who was finalist of Bernard Barry that foretop won had electric early pace struggled to stay 525 his best time was 29.76 Arcadian prince who stays 550yds never ran over 4 bends at Dunmore because it was only sand track in Ireland he really was my fav dog won Bernard Barry, dundealgan trophy and derby trial stake at old Dundalk, won gold cup at Lifford ,garvin open sprint at 4 and half yrs of age after winning the Bernard Barry in 29.40 8 spots of the clock in those days rem Eddie refusing 18.000 I was boy in 1986 how much would he'd worth in 2days market always rem he had 2 extra pages stapled on his id card so work out how many he ran in always in top company must try and trace down his old race card think it was kept in box after ole Eddie died dog in million and spent 3 yrs best days of my life putting him in traps R.I.P ROCKY
