Talking to a track staff member last night Kevin, hoping for sometime in June. Consulting with Lismore Council about another suitable parcel of land. Cant see GRA coming on board with that $$$$$$$$$ can you?

A replacement site would have to be high on the agenda, wouldn't it Terry?

The cost of reparations on the track plus lost revenue must be hurting the club

Devastating to all Sandro. No one can predict when the next flood is coming. Certainly not fair or equitable to any other Club in NSW to keep spending big dollars to repair this track.
Why not a Tweed/Lismore, Lismore/Tweed consortium? They have the Bank-Roll to build a state of the art fixture. WHY aren't they being embraced, encouraged by GRA/ Racing NSW. Political?

That's s real good question

Build a state of the art facility with a one turn, two turn, straight track, bull ring swimming pools and place vet facilities on track and some accommodation facilities for carnival times

Surely with the rationalization of the industry that is forthcoming, these are the types of centres that should be attracting attention

Perhaps Sandro, GRNSW don't perceive it as proper, that a track with those facilities.(Best in the State) Aust? is not in the Metropolitan Region! I was taught never to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Another reason, HOW LONG ARE WE VIABLE?

Why are the GBOTA tracks being propped up all of the time ? The little independent tracks seem to never have their hand out, yet they've been overlooked and have had changes as to how they operate. It makes them struggle even more eg meetings reduced, funding cut and prize money not given to clubs instead, goes directly into accounts. It prevents participants reinvesting back into clubs.

If I was a betting person I would say it has gone again if that is the case it needs to be closed and not fixed as it shows how valuable it is

Thanks for the accurate explantion John. I'm glad its safe.
I whole-heartedtly agree with your comments..........its a great venue and has been around since the 1950's. It has a great sponsor in Ladbrokes and is a very good track for owner/trainers not only in NSW.....but in Queensland too.

Is it really ? Why don't they trade in their gold for money and spend it on the track instead of 'hooning' off the GRNSW which prevents other tracks from getting their upgrades or even increased prize money ? That have $6 million from the sale of Lidcombe premises. You want it because it's close to you with Tweed now gone. This should be the last go for Lismore unless the GBOTA put it from their gold reserves because it's going to flood again. Find and build a better place that has all facilities i.e. A centre of excellence !

John,
I'd like to know how the Lismore Track is a gold mine for the GBOTA, as you suggest it is, when the track and surrounding areas are regularly affected by floods ?

Well Mark -I'm pretty sure grnsw would not be footing the whole bill! I'm confident Lismore would be using some of their GOLD ! The way things operate these days Grnsw 'track manager has total control of all aspects ie labour, machinery, sand etc so costs are magnified compared to Gbota pushing ahead with it all themselves. As for selfish reasons for keeping this track operational it services the LARGEST breeding area in the state of NSW & greyhound racing in general in NSW would be severely impacted without this track!!! We hadn't trialled or raced at Tweed Heads for several years prior to its close & I spend approx $7000-$10000 per year in trials at Lismore,Casino &Grafton .
