COPIED FROM SAVE HAROLDS CROSS TOPIC...

DGOBA Committee meeting last night (Tuesday). A meeting was held to discuss the fact that the new CEO is not prepared to meet with the Dublin Greyhound Owners & Breeders Association.
It was unanimously agreed that the DGOBA would ask the Owners/Trainers to withdraw their dogs from racing starting with Shelbourne Park on the 4th February.
Pickets will be placed on both entrances to Shelbourne Park on the evening.
This protest is especially to highlight the plight of HAROLDS CROSS STADIUM.
YOUR SUPPORT ON THE NIGHT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICATED.
Remember your Local Stadium could be next on the hit list.
VENUE:- SHELBOURNE PARK.
DATE:-- SATURDAY 4th FEBRUARY 2017.
TIME:- 6pm.

It's vitally important that owners/breeders have a voice and it's a major concern that we are providing the essential product for our industry yet have little or no say in how our industry is run.

I am behind this action and will join the picket line if I can travel to Dublin on 4th Feb.

It is well past the time that stakeholders should have a say in the running of our industry.

It's a terrible thing to say that we have to put a picket on shelbourne park because they won't talk to us we have a right to know what is happening to our track so please do not run your dog's on the 4 feb or pass the picket come out and save our track

I agree with you Lynda as participants you need a say in how the industry is run if you don't you will end up like us in Australia and it's not good.
I have been to Harolds Cross and would be sad to see it closed, everyone over there has my support. Good Luck and stay united.

The Dublin Greyhound Owners & Breeders Association have issued a statement asking all Owners/Trainers to withdraw their dogs from racing starting with Shelbourne Park on the 4th February.

Pickets will be placed on both entrances to Shelbourne Park on the evening.

The decision to take this action was not taken lightly and reflects the frustration felt by greyhound supporters who have watched an arrogant and incompetent board run the industry into the ground. It would be a mistake for owners to think that this is just a Harolds Cross issue and may not affect them directly. Which track is next for closure? Successive Government Ministers may be happy with the performance of IGB but this is a clear statement that greyhound owners are not happy and have had enough.

Greyhound owners have had to endure prize money cuts and rule changes without consultation. Breeding numbers, owners, attendance, tote etc have all collapsed. The Board of IGB have been dishonest and totally disrespectful towards owners by undermining representative organisations and refusing to engage in any meaningful way.

The DGOBA must be commended for taking a stance. It is incumbent on everyone who claims to support the greyhound industry that they now give unequivocal public support and do not allow their dogs to be entered for racing on February 4.

The IGOBF fully support the DGOBA action and asks our members not to allow their dogs to be entered for racing on February 4.

Ladies & Gentlemen of the Greyhound fraternity the time has come to come together to save our Industry. The last Chairman and the Current Chairman ably assisted by the last two CEO's decimated the Greyhound Industry.
Unless Breeders, Owners and Trainers answer the call to Unite NOW there will be no need for their services. The Industry will be lost forever.
This is YOUR last chance to Save Greyhound Racing in Ireland. YOU and only YOU can save the world of Greyhounds in Ireland.
We have in the past canvased Politicians, who All said they would fight for our cause however the Main Minister for Agriculture is based in Brussels, NOT in Ireland as you might think. Phil Hogan is the Main Man, he controls the Agri purse strings. The man with the title of Minister for Agriculture in the Dail has to go to Big Phil with the begging bowl for the Farming Community in Ireland.
Mr. Hogan was elected as a result of the Trojan work carried out by Mr. Phil Meaney. Mr. Meaney being the Current Chairman of the IGB. Mr. Meaney being Mr. Hogans right hand man you can rest assured Mr Hogan will endeavour to keep Mr. Meaney as Chairman of the IGB.
In the present circumstances one would expect Mr. Meaney to resign from the Board of the IGB. Always when faith has been lost in a Chairperson they would tender their resignation. However that is not the case with the Chairman of the IGB. It seems he intends to brazen it out all be it the entire Greyhound Industry has lost faith in his ability to run the Industry.
Not only must Mr. Meaney GO but the entire IGB Board must resign or be SACKED. The Famous INDECON Report which the Board seem to think is the Greyhound Bible states "there are serious problems with miss management in the IGB". Nothing has been done about this issue except to PAY OFF MISS LARKIN. The first Harolds Cross Board meeting I met with Miss Larkin, I warned her not to trust the Board as when the time was right for them they would hang her out to dry. My words ring true. A fine fat six figure pay off with a Confidentiality clause, no doubt to protect the Board. When the Chairman next appears before the Public Accounts Committee, guess who will get the blame for all problems in the Industry? Ah go on Guess?
The current position is, there seems to be no sense in relying on your local TD, Senator or County Councillor. If anything this Industry is in your hands NOW. The time is NOW. Rally together NOW to save OUT GREAT GREYHOUND INDUSTRY.
Remember in the USA, if you lie to a Politician it's a Felony. If the Policitian lies to you, it's Politics.
Would Owners, Trainers and Breeders sign on this topic on the Forum to show your support. We want to show the IGB who runs the Greyhound Industry in Ireland, we want to emphasise the IGB are a State body. The Industry is Run by the Greyhound Man and Woman. They supply the material that supplies the Racing to the Tracks, who supply the money to the IGB, who supply the Salaries and Great Expenses to The IGB Board Members.
ACT NOW.
Remember Elvis:- "ITS NOW OR NEVER". .

This statement by the IGOBF in support of the DGOBA is a vitally important step forward in unifying the owners/breeders in Ireland.

For those that have been calling for more action than simply 'talks', this is your opportunity to take a stance.

It is great to see everyone coming together on this very important issue more so the GOBA'S. United We Stand, Divided We Fall it is better to stick together Unity is of great value in every walk of life. If there is unity among people then their strength increases. On the other hand their strength decreases if there is disunity or conflict.

Alan Redmond continues to point out that your track could be next and there are persistent rumours that 5 tracks are lined up for closure.
His insight in to the politics of the situation is eye opening and I wouldn't expect anyone to be resigning voluntarily.
If both sides lock horns here there will be some painful financial discussions for both sides.
Hopefully the 2015 and 2016 accounts will be available if talks take place.

Hi Martin,
I can assure you I am not expecting any volanterary cop outs. This crowd will have to be removed with the help of the fire brigade.
I intent to withdraw from this campaign in the very near future. It is not my intention to enter into battle without a full Batallion. One of the group's to benefit most from this Campaign will be the TRAINERS. DO YOU BY CHANCE SEE EVEN ONE TRAINERS NAME REGISTERED HERE TO SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN?
I'm not prepared to man a picket for a bunch of people who want to stay home and not be seen to Upset the IGB Board Members.
The only thing that keeps me going is the fight to (1)KEEP HAROLDS CROSS OPEN. (2). To see those who Destroyed the Industry removed from office.THAT IS MY PRIORITY?
TRAINERS & BREEDERS I call upon YOU to sign UP NOW!
BOOKMAKERS I DONT WISH FOR YOU TO BE LEFT OUT,SO SIGN UP NOW
HOSPITALITY STAFF, GROUND STAFF, TOTE STAFF YOU LIVING THEREFORE WE DO NOT EXPECT

Why have both Ministers Creed/Doyle allowed the IGB to be so reckless? by not filing their 2015 accounts on time it is now January 27th 2017, if this were any other company the sheriff would have been called in, the IGB are a total disgrace and the ministers should take responsibility for their dysfunctional board, I hope that all stakeholders can see for themselves how bad this board really are, Join the picket on the 4th it is time we were heard and listened too.

Statement from GIGIS

GIGIS (Group for Irish greyhound industry stakeholders) has run a snapshot poll on their FB group and 96% of members are in support of the DGOBA picket on the 4th February. Those who voted in favour of the picket include owners, breeders and trainers.

The DGOBA have the support of GIGIS and our support adds to that of the IGOBF and the Tipperary GOBA who have already declared their support.
