Hi folks, our strategy so far has been led by the DGOBA and has been supported by most of the other stakeholder groups. They organised the protest at the Dail and have called for pickets on Shelbourne Tuesday's, Friday's and Saturday's. Let's await their next request for support and stay united.

Listening to the minister (Andrew Doyle) and reading the IGB annual report over the past few days, I feel the current challenges facing the industry are even greater than I first feared. From what I can see this board has attempted to carry out the recommendations of the Indecon report with little or no regard for how much it costs and how much sense it makes. I am sure this document has some merit but no matter what way you look at it, the people that completed this report have little or no understanding of our sport and are solely viewing it from the outside looking in.
Yet it has become the bible that will save greyhound racing as far as the board are concerned. However, by carrying out the recommendations regarding things like welfare, integrity, asset reduction there seems to have been a massive increase in costs and resources, to the tune of 8 million.
I agree these are clearly important issues but surely every decision made regarding spending must be made with full regard for the bottom line and how much value is gleaned from money spent. However, this is the fundamental problem, in my opinion with the IGB in its current structure. There is no accountability or responsibility in spending OUR money wisely, as sure its not our money!
The Indecon Report has the potential to destroy us if not seen for what it is, a useful road map with some solid general recommendations.
Unfortunately, the biggest problem with a semi-state body is bureaucracy. Thankfully, Paschal gave us a proper road-map that we can truly refer back to. It involved the industry being run by competent business people with a huge interest in greyhounds. It involved each individual track becoming a viable business and Self-Sustaining. But most of all, it was about CREATING A BUZZ and realizing we are an entertainment industry.
It is time to pay less attention to reports and get back to basics.

If a digger and fleet of trucks arrive on Monday to take away and dump the sand and drainage stone what happens then ?
This looks to be where we are heading now I'd say that's a reasonable assumption given the God complex that prevails in certain circles.

I understand Alan Kelly will let loose in the Dail next week. He intends to rattle the cages of our monkeys. He has plenty of support with his mission. If he continues to fight our case as he currently is, when the election is called I hope all the Greyhound Fraternity will remember him at voting time.
Next week we hope to have Lar Sutton carry out a few interviews regarding the manner in which Harold's Cross was closed. The fact that four of the Directors of the Company which owns the Stadium were not notified at a board meeting. Also the fact the Stadium was to be raided in the middle of the night. The fact the Local Directors were Locked out of their own Stadium, in total Breach of Company Law.
The despicable way in which the Brady Bunch tore the Heart and Soul out of Harold's Cross. Once the Video is complete we will have it uploaded on the Forum. We will then ask each person to send a copy of of the video to three of their friends, who will be asked to send it on to three of their friends.very soon the video will viral all over the world. The wise heads in Limerick will be asked to explain their actions. They have an ex State Solicitor on the Board. Did he prescribe this as a remedy to put manners on the few Trouble Makers in Harold's Cross? Perhaps Dr Brady advised the Board that he was an expert in Closing down profit making Businesses. Considering his actions at Irish Sugar were deemed to have been Illegal.
The time has come for for these gentlemen to make their way to the EXIT door. Very soon there will be 300,000 hits on this subject on Greyhound Data. So far I havent seen ANY suggestions that the IGB have one ounce of support for their closure of Harold's Cross. In fact All I see are recommendations that the entire IGB Board should RESIGN.
Take a hint and move on before the Minister has to sack the lot of you. Be sure and bring Dr Brady with you. We certainly don't want him around the place.
More updates later.

Junior minister Doyle, Senior minister Creed and their bosse's Brady and I.G.B. board have nit picket the Indecon report, they are getting rid of their most valuable asset's and holding on to people that the Indecon report clearly stated had no skill and were no asset to the greyhound industry. Why pay big money to Indecon for state of the industry report and only read half of it.. Beggar's belief to me anyway.. Talking about a skill's gap, It's very serious and highly embarrasing if those highly paid people are only able to read half a report..

Oisin, I phoned him Friday, left voice message for him. I don't really expect to receive a return call. I have no doubt his is in it up to his eyes with The Chairman and CEO. He is very well aware of what is happening on his watch. Mr Creed is currently on a trip to Dubai and surrounding villages. UEA etc.
Minister Doyle is not in any hurry to sort this problem, if he was he would be talking with the DGOBA.
As this month draws to a close, I can assure you the vultures will be calculating their expenses for February. They will not go hungry, they will continue to draw a SALARY and VERY LARGE EXPENSES. While they have been he Greyhound Man on the side of the Road.
I'm hoping to be back on my feet again on Monday as I have to meet with our legal representatives. I expect we will have a meeting with the judge to try to nail the IGB colours to the mast.
Harolds Cross will be manned from Sunday evening right through Monday. Just in case the thieves in the night try to strike again. The next time they try to remove property belonging to the Dublin Greyhound & Sports Association Limited we will be ready for them. I have our neighbours in the houses watching out for them. If a ladder is put up against a light pole inside the track I will receive a phone call. This time the DGOBA will be ready for to greet them. If a truck gets into the Stadium I can assure you it will not leave with any of the property belonging to the Dublin Greyhound and Sports Association. I must check if proper procurement is in place for all the demolition work taking place. An electricle company was inside the Stadium attempting to remove the track lights. Must there be three tenders for that line of work? This is not regarded as emergency work. Does anyone know if it's all works to be tendered for or is their a price above which they must seek a tender.
It won't be long now!
Regards.
Alan Redmond.

What ever happen's out of this rebellion against the crook's in I.G.B And the two Crook Minister's..Juniour and Seniour I Am proud of how all greyhound people have united.. I have nothing against any of these crook's I have only 2 dog's and I love them, but I feel sorry for people who have put all their live's into greyhound's and all their hard earned money to be made a laugh of by the board that should be helping them out..Wouldnt lose the head about it though, cos thing's will change very soon.... I will lay a hundred euro at 10 to one that next Valentine's Day the current I.G.B. Board wont be the same as it is now and Andrew wont be in a position to laugh at people who love greyhound's..

Lynda i think Barry worked for IGB in Mullingar - open to correction though.

As a matter of interest does anyone know how the track staff were/ are being treated ?

Would this be the first case ever in this country, of semi-state staff being moved from their workplace in such a fashion?

Regarding Alans question on tendering, some semi-states require 3 quotes from suppliers before they can proceed with work and it can be a time consuming wait.

Rumour has it we can expect some more blunt force trauma from the special ones over the next few days.

Hi Lynda, The Federation met with 6 members of FF Mr Cowan happened to be one of those 6 he was the least interested out of the 6 and showed no interest what so ever, surprising as he was given a Job in Mullingar race track a few years ago when he had nothing else and was paid extremely well for his services, Mr Cowan forgot very quick that it was our industry that put food on his table, time he and his FF friends repaid us with a little help, it will be too late to offer help when election time comes, regards Mr Bruton we never set eyes on the man.

Spoke with the legal eagles a few minutes ago. Based on information I received from a source they are checking a few points to be sure to be sure. Going into court we want to be 110% sure of all our facts. Small things however they could be important to our case.
Did anyone see an advertisement for a CEO for the IGB in any paper? Did it appear before or after Miss Larkin departed? Has the Minister the power to appoint an interm CEO, without the post being advertised? (We managed for a few years without a Chief Financial Officer)
Who were the other two parties that were interviewed for the post?
If the DGOBA & The Greyhound Federation had a vote of NO CONFIDENCE in the Chairman and the CEO, was that information forwarded to the Minister for agriculture Mr Creed? Not the Junior Minister, seems the book stops with the Minister. If there was a need to summon a government representative to court it would have to be THE MINISTER.
The CEO already holds a post to which he was appointed to by the Minister for Agriculture. He is Chairman of the Irish National Stud.
The last time anybody from the Horse Racing fraternity got involved with the Greyhound Industry it was Dick O' Sullivan. We are where we are today because of O' Sullivan's rein as Chairman. When he took over from the Master Taggart Greyhound Racing was streets ahead on turnover than that of Horse Racing. We were sacrificed by O' Sullivan ably assisted by his Board Members and Mr Adrian Nealon.
Update Later.

Hi Alan, from what I am aware the fact they used the term "interm" CEO when appointing him, I'm not too sure they have to advertise In the proper channels (nationally & in house) and they are advertising the full time position now.
