Chucky, Australian TAB have woke up now 12 only dogs to bet on. The top 3, Tyrur 5/2, Clares 3/1 and Bruiser 7/1. Got a mate at work on Clares for only a fiva at the 9/2 and they accepted the bet they would of also accepted a bet on Pacey Bambi who missed out the bludgers. - Macwollie

Hi Peter, I would not have a clue but have often found Bill to be correct when info from the tracks and board is in error. Maybe Bill will give his thoughts!

Bill is correct the run up at Towcester for the 480M is 63.99M and the run up for the 500m is 83.99M. The circumference is 426.01M made up of equivalent bends 1-2 & 3-4 of 150.8M each, a home straight of 62.2M and a back straight of 62.21M This info is on the map that Towcester do their transponder timing at 8 points around the track.

Thanks all for clearing up the distances to the first bend for me.
I estimate distance from bookies to bar as 25/30m.

Draw Sunday 28th May, as to the winner I'd be against Clares Rocket & have backed Tyrur Shay. I have the reverse thought's to many it would seem, in that I feel true wides will have an advantage at Towcester. They are few in numbers & with even distribution of seeds will always get their trap.

Chris i kinda agree with your comment about wide seeds , though imo Towcester is a very tricky course and not all dogs will handle it (Clares Rocket being one of them) so with so few wide seeds if you can find one that does handle the track they could have an advantage .........As for the draw Laurence it is this sunday at 1pm.

Hey Charlie where the bloody hell are yah he's still alive and so is my $25 @ 7/1 - Macwollie (go the rocket)

Hi Macwollie! How ya doing. Rather thought you'd be coming over for the big race?
How's my favourites dogs? Heard you lost a Kray, very sad.

Still have your guy with me on here and when out in the car.

Nah Claire have to settle to watch the action on Towcester TV. The tracks very similar to Melbourne's city tracks in shape and size but being inside a racecourse does make the viewing not as intimate as a dedicated greyhound venue is. Both The Krays are long gone over a year now. 12 & 1/2 years each, good innings I suppose just the two greyhounds to attend to now. I hope Tyrur doesn't knock off the Rocket but being by Big Daddy Cool there is a soft spot as he's Zorro's grand sire. Cheers and good to here from you. - Macwollie

Hi Mac tried to post a couple of times this week and kept getting "site offline" messages so gave up for a bit,i'm glad it's up and running again ..
Anyways yeah wish you luck with your bet now mine has gone out. Hard to say whether it was down to the draw or just a tied dog them 3 races in a week really catches some dogs out, good luck tomorrow but i still fancy the Tyrur dog , only dog i don't personally want to win is the one dog (nothing against conections or the dog himself) but believe it or not he was my very first pick back in feburary for this year derby but i managed to talk myself out of backing him

Just finished watching replay of final I bloody new I'd stop the favourite, just as you said Chuck the Rocket's not always the fastest one out and they reckon Astute was the longest priced Derby winner ever.

1- Astute Missile 28/1
2- Tyrur Shay 7/4
3- Clares Rocket 6/4
3/4 x 4 1/2 28.92

Good stuff Towcester and good to see hurdle races and 8 dog fields in some races, on the new UK track. - Macwollie

Rocket like many this year where beaten by the draw, though i doubt anyone expected that result , Bullet showed what he can do when drawn well 28.78 (couple of lengths faster than the final itself) roll on next year was a great Derby and probably the best nights racing i've ever seen

Have to agree with the best nights racing, especially when concluding with a 4 dog photo finish. My 1st visit to Towcester, they did the sport proud and the sport did them proud with a massive turnout. It was great to be there.

Enjoyed the whole derby, towcester did a great job,
My only moan was I liked to see the traps moved up a few yards so it would be a straight run to the 1st bend,
At the moment lots of trap 1 or 2 move off after a few yards ,
But overall I enjoyed the whole event,
