Unsatisfactory marring ! Obviously no interest in the "lure"

The yellow did chase, but it wasn't chasing the "lure". It was chasing the red after copping a decent hip and shoulders from it on the first turn.

When the yellow managed to catch up with the red,it was payback time.

It was probably more fun for the yellow, than the pointless exercise of chasing a bundle of rags.

Race 6 from Gosford on Tuesday night ... Apparently the Stewards gave the Yellow the "benefit of the doubt" on a possible "Marring" charge .... although they did deem the performance "unsatisfactory".

Extract from Steward's Report:

" Post race veterinary examination of DAISY MAREE [5] revealed [????] [NB: It doesn't say!].
Stewards spoke with connections of DAISY MAREE [5] regarding the
greyhounds actions in the home turn. After viewing the video replay
and considering submissions from connections, stewards had some
doubt as to whether DAISY MAREE [5] had actually made head or
muzzle contact with CAROUSLE EXCITE [1]. Stewards subsequently
issued an Unsatisfactory Performance endorsement against DAISY
MAREE [5] under GAR 71. DAISY MAREE [5] is suspended from racing
until completing a satisfactory trial under GAR 72."

Now take a minute and watch it for yourselves, and you be the judge!

Anthony: Were they the same crew, sitting in the Bunker making decisions on the NRL finals last weekend??

I don't get any joy out of posting these videos.
It is heart-breaking for the connections of both the culprit and the victims, whilst damaging the credibility of the sport for the punter.

Obviously, the time has come for the PTB to address the issue of the restrictions on what can be used as lures, on both the racetrack and the trial track.

Couldn't agree more, Ian, especially with your last statement. These flying rags here do nothing at all to stimulate their chasing instinct. I cannot understand why we can't have the same lure system as NZ. It works extremely well for the dogs there, they actually CHASE it, and get REWARDED for their efforts at the end. They all have a grab, come off happy with themselves, and don't appear to worry about the other dogs. You hardly ever see dogs put out over there, which keeps the owners, trainers, dogs, and punters happy. So what's the problem ? There's nothing wrong with rabbit skins or carcases either, as we have enough rules in place now to cover any problems with anyone. The sooner the better, I reckon !

Agree 100% Ian.

This thread has been going for 55 days with 93 replies, mostly pointing to video's that prove the banning of the rabbit skin, carcasses etc, was the WRONG DECISION........and the flapping pieces of rotten rags, now called a lure that were originally used as blindfolds for the rule markers, ARE NOT WORKING either.

Bwahahaha!

Do any of you seriously believe that any of the idiots in charge actually have the humility to admit they made a mistake???

NEVER going to happen!

Then we need things to change asap, Steve. I don't know why the PTB cannot see what is happening, when owners, trainers, participants, and punters obviously can. Dogs are just not interested in chasing rags, and getting bored.

You are right Mark and nor will their "Experts" stand up and be counted for their absolute inability to improve chase through synthetic lures.

Mark, Baird admitted he was wrong. Something has to change, or we won't have any genuine chasers left soon. They were never bred to chase flying rags. Many, many dogs are not interested in chasing flying birds, either.

Possibly, Anthony, but where is the exciting incentive for these dogs to chase a bunch of flying rags ?

It's probably an offence to put a picture of a rabbit on there too most likely :)
