Most of these races I've shown this month in Victoria are MAIDEN RACES.....Which proves we have a problem with the educating levels (sound familiar - school kids - bring back the cane).
WITHOUT REAL-PROPER-FAIR DINKUM-RIDGY DIDGE-REWARDS (dead carcass-not live for those that can't read), the game or should I say hobby to a majority & an industry that supports 10,000 of jobs across this ONCE GREAT NATION is over.
WAKE UP YOU LUNATICS & SMELL THE ROSES.
Qlds Dale Cartwright and Eliot Forbes and their fellow Greyhounds Australasia interstate administrators are too pally with the big end of town and Animals Australia to DO anything about greyhound WELFARE,they are only interested in creating MORE restrictions.

WPK 27/9/2017 Race 3. The time tells the story being some 40 lengths, yes 40 LENGTHS off the track record ---> EXTERNAL LINK
Stewards Report. In a mixing race, MACQUARIE MIST( 1 ), BEER CAN BILLY( 2 ), and MITHRIL MAGIC( 5 ), came together at the first turn, with MACQUARIE MIST( 1 ) and MITHRIL MAGIC( 5 ) losing ground hampering KEYSTA( 3 ), and BLACK PARIDISE( 8 ). BLACK PARIDISE( 8 ) raced wide at the turn into the home straight on the first occasion hampering KEYSTA( 3 ), both losing ground. In two separate incidents approaching the home turn, ZAMBONI MISS( 6 ) eased for the first time, and MITHRIL MAGIC( 5 ), and ROCKSTAR ROY( 7 ) came together. In two separate incidents soon after entering the home straight, ZAMBONI MISS( 6 ) eased for a second time, and BLACK PARIDISE( 8 ) raced wide when racing at the rear of the field, colliding with MACQUARIE MIST( 1 ), BEER CAN BILLY( 2 ), and KEYSTA( 3 ). From the latter incident, MACQUARIE MIST( 1 ), BEER CAN BILLY( 2 ), and BLACK PARIDISE( 8 ) all lost ground. BLACK PARIDISE( 8 ) worst affected. ZAMBONI MISS( 6 ) was vetted and was found to be injured in the near side thigh and pencil muscle. 14 Days Incapacitation Certificate issued. In acknowledgement of the veterinary report with respect to ZAMBONI MISS( 6 ), Stewards invoked GAR 69A(1) for failing to pursue due to injury. As a consequence, ZAMBONI MISS( 6 ) is required to trial satisfactorily prior to renomination. MITHRIL MAGIC( 5 ) was vetted with no incapacitation period imposed. Stewards spoke to the trainer of MITHRIL MAGIC( 5 ) regarding the greyhounds actions approaching the home turn. Stewards had concerns that the greyhound may have not raced truly at this point of the race, looking outwardly at ROCKSTAR ROY( 7 ), albeit questionable as to whether head or muzzle contact had occurred. In affording the greyhound the benefit of the doubt re marring, Stewards informed trainer K Rees that the greyhounds future performances will be closely monitored.

Only watched a few races and I could be wrong, but the common theme I can see is a blue/yellow and white octopus with arms and legs swinging all over the place 4-5 foot from the rail and 3-4 foot in the air.
Where was it tested and proven this is what dogs want to chase ? We teach them to run to the rail, but now we want them to run 3-5 foot from the rail. (Wish I had a handy dog that could rail, would make a fortune. I don't see too many dogs stick to the fence of the home turn this days, they all seem to scout wide looking for better ground)
How many dogs are scared of this lure ?
Again could be wrong but do they chase the same shape, design and colour in the USA and NZ ?
Cheers

The way I see it is, the camber of the tracks was designed for railers, and it still remains that way, after the lure was shifted out 4-5 feet.
Coming around the bends, some dogs rail, (using the camber to their advantage), to find the shortest way.
Other dogs follow their line of sight with the lure, and run around the bends 4-5 feet away from the rail,( losing the advantage of the camber, and possibly putting more strain on their legs ?)
As the field enters the straight, there is often a shuffle up,as dogs re-position themselves across the track.
Then, regardless of the track camber, there is the wildcard, of what appears to be an increasing number of dogs, not interested in chasing a bundle of rags.
