Dogs are get sick and tired of chasing flying rags and getting no reward. It's only going to get worse.

Carole, you are spot on.
Now, what about the punters, the money they turn over is what keeps the industry going. How long before they jack up on punting on non-chasers and fighters, and look for something else to bet on?

Greyhounds Australasia are responsible for many ridiculous rules, but are completely useless when it comes to a rule for genuine greyhound welfare.then again Grey2K will be very pleased with Scott Parkers performance.

Here in South Australia the hoop lure at Gawler is often so high that we need to educate pups to chase birds. If you watch pups chasing seagulls they stop pursing when it reaches a certain height. Decision makers need to talk to readers.

Ray, they get to know that the "bird" is going to fly away at the finish, and a lot of dogs lately are tending to lose concentration in the home straight. The sooner they bring in the FOL and get dogs chasing properly again, the better for all of us. It works exceptionally well in NZ, so why not here ?

Carole unfortunately the wimps are to worried about there Hounds getting injured and yes it has worked well in N.Z. and there have been plenty of problem Hounds from Aus that have kicked arse in N.Z. because of the FOL. Greyhounds can and will adapt to FOL racing if the Wimps ever grow a set.

Not looking forward to entering maidens in the coming months, they really seem to be struggling at the moment.

I can't believe the so called "PROFESSIONALS" in the industry are not willing to try FOL Racing, it may be that they don't care if Dogs they don't own cop a ticket as they usually have a waiting list.

You beat me to posting that one Mark! I watched the race this evening, & thought it would make a "worthy" (?!?!) addition to the topic.
The 8 didn't know which one to look at first (or, for that matter, whether to look left OR right!); so I guess it decided to try both, and sure managed to "find" a couple of its rivals along the way ...

The biggest problem is the powers that be want us to prepare our Athlete Chasers to be PETS FIRST - far before their working days are over.
Ummmm seriously this in itself is an offence and actually a Welfare Issue in the Race Bred Greyhound !!
They are a Working Breed first and foremost and this Group of Hounds are bred to WORK .
DOGS LOVE JOBS !
These dogs are bred to work before they retire to the lounge - not the other way around ! Taking advice from AR Groups is really not doing any of these dogs any favours - only furthering the thoughts of Animals Australia who want them all set free to live in the bush ? .
It would be lovely to see folk that actually KNOW dogs - be put in the position to make rules on what and how to train rather than someone who got a job and said yes I've seen a Greyhound - be told OK you have the job so you get a say in how they should be reared.
It's tragic !
