Never thought I would be writing about and supporting a Greyhound association but this era of the QGBOTA seems to be a little more forward and foot to the floor than others I have seen.
I have never been a member of an association simply because I haven't had enough confidence in them.
I'm sure there are many people out there that feel the same.

Stephen Lennon and Christine Goodwin (I wouldn't know either from a bar of soap) from what I can see, are not shy in asking the questions.
They aren't shy in standing up and being counted.
And they are not shy in putting participants FIRST.

So, I'm joining.

It's a measly $20.
I'm prepared to join and give them a go.
They need numbers...BIG numbers.
They also need money, plenty of it...perhaps that will come with support and some good marketing and fundraising.

Right now, the industry needs people who will stand up and fight.
These guys seem to have the grit to at least step in the ring.

QLD needs strong participant representation and I don't see much else that's working out there.

Please give them a go...what have you got to lose?

EXTERNAL LINK

One little suggestion...
If they could have their membership form that could be filled out online and paid for by credit card, more people would take advantage of this.

All the best.

They are the only true democratic representatives of the Qld greyhound industry, the QGA are self appointed, unaccountable, not transparent yes-persons.IMO.

There was a mob of dictators followed by all P&ss and Wind, so hopefully a new office who will hopefully
represent the participant and not their own interests and ego's.

Kevvy,
Is the QGA still in existence???
I'm not being smart, I honestly don't know..haven't heard anything from them in a long long time.

I forgot to mention Sid Goodwin, who is doing the hard yards at ground zero, talking to many owners/trainers and getting feed-back and listening to their concerns.
It sounds like good old fashion face to face INTERACTION, which is a great place to start.
Good on you, Sid!

Dan, EGO is the cancer that has, and will continue to impede progress.
In fact it ROTS it.
There is far too much of it and the stench is unmistakable.
Hopefully these guys can keep their eyes firmly on the ball.
They are starting out on the right foot.

All good.

Well, it probably would have been a good idea for someone to notify the industry of that!?!?!?!...I'm gobsmacked.

So, until the current QGBOTA kicked into action, the WHOLE INDUSTRY was left with NO REPRESENTATION AT ALL!!!

Can someone grab a hammer and hit me on the head, please.

For God's sake everyone, join the QGBOTA because it is the ONLY HOPE WE HAVE of being represented anywhere!!!

Bloody hell.

Just got to the end of a bloody long line Mick!(Sledge/Hammer in hand).
Quit the inactive NSW Gbota. and joined the Q'landers. Probably cant do much down here, but offer support. They appear to be proactive in difficult times. Yes they deserve EVERY participants support.

Exellent suggestion, many Qld stakeholders who read Data probably don't read the QGBOTA news.

That would be right...$5.95?
It only confirms that the love for me still grows deep within you, Quinny.
For if it didn't, you would have just borrowed one.

I know you are only joking about the hammer, TJ...not sure about the Quin though. If he gets another winner he might upsize to a wrecking-ball.

Good on you for joining, well done mate.
All NSW people who race here might like to do the same and keep the hope alive.

They need numbers!

Thank you for the kind words. Its been a hard slog and our committee is determined to try and get one thing. Our fair share. We don't want grandeur. We have worked hard to open doors, refute false claims. And insure our sport continues on. Most importantly listen and focus trainers on where we are getting let down, by our two bodies. We have nearly 200 members and they are Qld wide. Far cry from 40 some 16months ago. One wish for the new year, that trainers, owners, and anyone else who loves our sport, join our voice. We were whispers, but now we are being heard and felt as an association. Thank you for your support.

Bravo, Sid.

OUR FAIR SHARE...three little words that every Australian deserves to own...that includes Greyhound people.

You keep going, Sid.

QGOBTA PRESS RELEASE.

Is RQ fulfilling its obligations to the Greyhound Code?
Posted on January 4, 2018 by QGBOTA
Are you wondering why everyday your phone and computer beeps

noms3with messages about dogs required to fill fields? Surely, with the excess of dogs we are breeding, there cant be a shortage? The MacSporran report (based on the ludicrous McHugh Report) said it was so. It must be true! Why are all you people hiding these dogs? Is there a big race coming that I am unaware of? Some of these dogs must be nearly four years old by now, personally, I think you might have left your run a bit late.

noms5

noms4

Based on the MacSporran/McHugh or whoever reports, we were breeding excessive numbers of dogs, most to be discarded. When the scandal broke, (no, not the trots scandal of cheating the punters), RQ quickly condemned our industry. (Just read some of Dixons statements).

The government condemned our industry, (even though almost all submissions were

noms7noms6unfounded hearsay of a historic nature. Some were even by fictitious people. imagine that!) Dont quote me, but I believe that was almost the same for the enquiry into unions!
The premier was the same when both reports were released;

ON UNIONS: you cant judge all by a few bad apples.
ON HOUNDS: disgraceful, disgusting, etc etc.

noms8The fact is this: MacSporran could not have come up with a different conclusion.
Why? Because his findings were based on false data supplied to him, by people actively trying to close our industry down. The people who were pro racing and made submissions were largely ignored.

noms9

When the proverbial hit the fan, the media went to Greyhounds Australasia, and they had no idea, as their record keeping was to be honest CRAP. It relies on each state supplying the data. Which QLD have not done for a few years. So they guessed. Thats right, they guessed and the media ran with it.

noms10

Ah, but I hear you say. Racing Queensland should know. We sent them service notices, whelping notices, sale notifications, kennel transfers and retirement forms. They have all the information. We have been doing this since before RQ was RQ. Some of us were fined for not complying. RQ has no records to provide us, prior to 2016. They didnt keep them. The greyhound code was not worth the effort.

noms11

RQ should have been able to refute the overbreeding claims and supply submissions to the enquiry, but it didnt. It couldnt, because it was neglectful in its duties to our code.

Lets get some facts straight Mr. Forbes. We get it, you were not here when our appearance money was reduced from $40 to $15! You were not here when our prize money was slashed by over 20%! You were not here when our breeding scheme was scrapped!

noms12

But you, Mr. Forbes, are here now.
When you take over a position, you also inherit decisions by your predecessors (right and wrong). The merit of the man is simple: keep whats right and change whats wrong.
You are well aware that what was done to our code is wrong.
By continuing to allow it to happen can only mean one thing: YOU AGREE AND CONDONE IT.

Some figures for those that are concerned with helping our industry:

Greyhounds registered as named by QRIC: 1760
This will include
un-raced pups,
bitches registered or being kept for breeding,noms13
dogs retained and awaiting rehoming, and
dogs retained as pets but not informed by QRIC plus others
Assuming these dogs represents 20%, (a little light in my opinion) that leaves 1408 race dogs.
Oh, by the way, thats not SEQ, thats all QLD.
We require 1110 fit dogs on a weekly basis, or
2000 minimum on a fortnightly rotation.
noms14

WE ARE 600 down already. In the last two financial years, double the dogs leaving the industry compared to dogs whelped, and you wonder why your phone beeps.

QRIC and RQ have both stated that they are well aware of the problem. Ross Barnett stated that breeding figures are well below were they need to be.
I have to thank Ross and the panel, for getting puppy bonds and log books deferred. This would have been the final nail in the coffin.

noms15

RQ, QRIC and this government need to bring back some confidence in this industry. Ours is the only code trading in the black, despite what has been thrown at us.
RQ has a duty to ensure the success of ALL CODES, not just thoroughbreds.

It is about time you did just that.

noms16

We need a breeding scheme, fair market share, the tracks that have been promised, and equal representation on RQ.

noms17

I call on the Racing Minister Mr. Hinchliffe to have an open meeting with the QGBOTA to discuss these issues.

Kind Regards,
Stephen Lennon QGBOTA President

Great start to the new year and looks like this crew is on a mission to at least make an effort to right the ship.

All they need now is SUPPORT.

I just posted this which is waiting on moderation.

------------------------------------------------------

Nice summary Stephen and its all true.

The only problem now is, no matter how pro-active we are..no matter how much head way we may (if possible) make..no matter what decisions the PTB enforce on us whether theyre forward or backwards the next 2 years will only get worse before it gets any better. Thats a fact & Ill put my left nut on it.
The lies & coffin driven nails, hammered down by the do-gooders & sheep sniffing @$r3 followers that believe what the majority of us law abiding citizens love to do, is some how cruel, need to be flushed down the you know what. Sh1th0u$e.
Those that are employed by us.only mind you due to the fact we exist, need to start earning their high end leather bound air-conditioned cushy salaries & support our cause by listening to us shareholders, instead of fobbing us off.
We are not dirt bags because we live & breath in something we love to do.
Some people love sipping lattes, some love drink piss & destroying their liver. For gods sake we love racing dogs. Its not a crime & these dogs receive prime food & vitamins because their athletes. They receive the best treatments & get paid more attention then the average child who these days gets thrown a bloody Gameboy or the latest touch-screen hand-held-device & told to p1$$off....& the government are thinking about introducing a SUGAR TAX. Why don't they put a higher tax on these toys & remove taxes on cricket bats & tennis rackets 'n' balls. Anyway that's another story.
We need to push some BLOODY BIG BUTTONS NOW as I for one have had enough of the lame excuses..to many to mention before I go to sleep in 6 hours.
I agree with your call Stephen on the Racing Minister Mr. Hinchliffe to have an open meeting with the QGBOTA to discuss these issues.
Not next year. Not next month. Not next week. RIGHT #$@% now.
