a bags meeting sounds like a great idea for the men with loads of dogs.but the small owner trainer with just a couple of dogs would be drummed out ] .the track would have contracts with large kennels to provide dogs.the small kennel would cease to exist. remember its the small kennels that has kept racing going for many years.

Bobby one extra nights racing on a Sunday I think was mentioned, the figures I heard were 40 per dog . Instead of taking 40 if the trainers took 30 that 10 would go back to the Friday sat night racing increasing prize money by at least 50 per race which is what it is all about. It's not about small kennels big kennels it's about making the most out of good product in good facilities and start getting some money back to the roots.
My figures might be slightly off but they're not a million miles away

Michael i agree with you completly ,but theres a rumor coming out from the dundalk. Track that their going to be racing Sundays over the summer months the prize money mentioned ,is 500 euro per race.so it. would hinder a sunday bags meeting.

TALKING DOGS:

FIRST NORTHERN GREYHOUND SALES IN 35 YEARS
Drumbo Park will host the first Greyhound Sales to be staged in Northern Ireland in 35 years.

The last Sales in the north of Ireland was staged at the long defunct Dunmore Park Stadium but the Drumbo Park Supporters Club have taken the brave move to stage a Sales on Easter Tuesday, April 3rd at the Lisburn track.

Dave McErlean has been in touch regarding the Sales which will commence with Trials at 10.30am to be followed by the auction after lunch.

Given the tracks ideal location within a short journey of Belfast Port, it is hoped to attract UK buyers to this historic Sales.

The Sales are licenced by the Irish Coursing Club and all grades of greyhounds will be catered for on the day. The entry fee is 20 per dog and the weigh-in will commence at 9.30am with the trials set to commence at 10am. All greyhounds which run Sales Trials must go on the bench.

Are there more details of the sales. Can unraced or dogs for their first trial be entered. I wonder if Drumbo would consider sponsoring a sales trial competition for dogs kept to race at Drumbo bought out of the sales

Also wondering if management could advertise among the diners to try to get a few syndicates to club together to buy some and race at Drumbo.

SEAMUS WE HAVE BEEN IN TALKS WITH JOHN REGARDING THE POTENTIAL NEW GREYHOUND OWNERS THAT COME THRU THE DOORS AT DRUMBO EVERY YEAR, A MAJORITY ARE UNAWARE HOW AFFORDABLE IT IS TO PURCHASE AND RACE A GREYHOUND SHOULD IT BE AS AN OWNER/TRAINER OR PLACE A DOG WITH A LOCAL TRAINER, JOHN HAS BEEN UP TO HIS NECK GETTING THE UPCOMING SALE ORGANISED AS WELL AS MAKING UP RACECARDS BUT SOMETHING WILL BE ORGANISED ASAP, AS FOR YOUR QUESTION ON UNRACED DOGS I AM ALMOST DEFINATE THAT A DOG MUST HAVE QUALIFIED TO RACE BEFORE IT CAN BE ENTERED IN THE SALE. AS FOR DRUMBO SPONSORING A STAKE/STAKES FOR DOGS BOUGHT AT THE SALE IT IS SOMETHING DRUMBO AND DTSC WOULD LOVE TO ACHIEVE IN THE FUTURE BUT BEING THE 1ST SALE IN THE NORTH SINCE DUNMORE OVER 30YRS AGO WE WILL WALK BEFORE BEFORE WE RUN.

What's the fee for winning a race I herd its 100 win fee if dog wins and out of that 20 is taken of surly drumbo should be paying out the full wining fee of 100. Not take 20 for nothing.

In my opinion the prize money should be more than what it is. To make the boys bring more dogs back to drumbo track.. Make it more exiting buy fixing track times like 60 slow come on what you guys up to.

JASON I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT OR WERE YOUR GETTING YOUR INFORMATION BUT IT IS INCORRECT, RACES WORTH 100 OF WHICH THE WINNER GETS 100 , WHAT PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT DRUMBO DOES NOT GET ANY MONEY TO FUND PRIZE MONEY FROM THE IGB, DRUMBO HAS TO FUND THE PRIZE MONEY ITSELF, EVERYONE WOULD LOVE MORE PRIZE MONEY BUT IT IS JUST NOT POSSIBLE AT THE MINUTE, IF DRUMBO IS RATED FAST IT IS FAST AND IF IT IS RATED SLOW THEN ITS SLOW, VERY RARELY IS THE TRACK RATED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER UNLESS THE TRACK IS BLATENTLY RUNNING FAST/SLOW.

Well Mr click a mate of mine ran a dog and the dog won and he was to get 100 for the win and when he went to collect his prize money the guys in the office give him 80 and when he asked were the other 20 was he was told that it went to the track. So now he runs his dogs at Dundalk and Shelbourne were he gets the full prize money.

And the track is running 60 slow that's what I was told when I asked john what the track was running like.
