Looking forward to the sale at drumbo i hear its in the pipeline early this year.im really glad to see that this track is full of new ideas to boost racing in the north of ireland .thats on the heels of the great stakes compitions and prize money before the christmas holidays when we seen club members collect good money.and the managment supplying hot food down to the cabin,i have to say john has taken our track to another level with the help of click and the commitee so its all to play for in this new year good luck to all.

They say its early april the 3rd i think, apparently they,re waiting for the go ahead from the igb,if thats the case they,ll need to be quick As theres alot of work ahead like organising a catalog and arranging staff on the day, but im sure john and the boys will look after all that.but the fact that its being talked about is great news im sure some brainbox will tell us when we last had a greyhound sale in the north,if ever.well all i can say is another first for Drumbo congrats to all involved good on yas.

im not sure a sale would be a good idea, there is a shortage of dogs at the track at the min. 8 races on friday and sat in the month of january. then a sale would reduce the pool even more, dont think there would be any southern entries as they have plenty of sales down there, so it would be local dogs entered.....

I WOULD LIKE TO CONFIRM DTSC IN CONJUNCTION
WITH DRUMBO PARK WILL HAVE A GREYHOUND SALE
AT DRUMBO ON THE 3RD OF APRIL

MORE DETAILS WILL FOLLOW

OPINIONS WELCOMED FROM POTENTIAL
BUERS AND SELLERS

THERE WAS A SALE AT DUNMORE IN THE 80'S
AND IT WAS A DISASTER BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MEN
THAT ATTENDED THE SALE THAT THERE WAS A VERY LARGE
CROWD BUT IT WAS BADLY ORGANISED

THE FEEDBACK THE CLUB HAS RECIEVED
FROM MEMBERS HAS BEEN VERY POSITIVE
AND I HAVE NO HESITATION PREDICTING
WE WILL ATTRACT A LARGE CROWD OF
POTENTIAL BUYERS

Only my personal opinion but I would have preferred to keep the dogs at the track and tried the bags program on offer, as I say my opinion but I know a few others were interested in the bags. But good luck with the sales

MICHAEL YOU TELL ME A GREYHOUND MAN THAT SELLS A DOG AND DOSENT REPLACE IT ? NOT MANY I CAN TELL YA, PEOPLE SEEM TO BE GETTING THE WRONG OPINION OF THE SALE, AS A TRACK SUPPORTERS CLUB IT IS IN OUR BEST INTEREST TO BRING DOGS TO DRUMBO NOT TAKE DOGS AWAY FROM THE TRACK, DOG PRICES ON DATA ECT ARE RIDICULOUS AT THE MINUTE AND PLAIN AND SIMPLE GREYHOUND MEN AT DRUMBO ARE SITTING WITH EMPTY KENNELS, A SALE WILL GIVE THEM PEOPLE THE CHANCE TO BUY A DOG AND CAN SEE IT RUN BEFOREHAND, DONT GET THE IMPRESSION ALL DOGS IN THE SALE WILL BE DRUMBO DOGS, THE CLUB WILL BE DOING ALL WE CAN TO PROMOTE THE SALE AND WILL BE WORKING HARD BEHIND THE SCENES TRYING TO BRING DOGS FROM DOWN SOUTH,

WHEN WE ASK CLUB MEMBERS FOR SUPPORT IN THIS VENTURE WE ARE ASKING FOR NOT JUST PEOPLE TO PUT DOGS IN THE SALE BUT FOR OUR MEMBERS TO ATTEND AND BUY.

How does a sale work ? Is there a entry fee or commissions if the dog sells?

I would imagine Dundalk n lifford dogs at very lest will show up. They might want to sell one and buy something. I know if I sell something I will bring another home. I would love to see some south dogs come up. Get a proper look at the dog and see how he actually runs the track I race.

Great job everyone , hope its a success

Click mate I'm not knocking a sale at all, but for it to work you need quality young pups coming into sales to get maybe English buyers interested and make it a proper sales. If it's a sales full of below average and graders sure you might as well call round mine cause I've a kennel full of them s##te. The likes of Sean Conway who rears good pups should be contacted and his likes, ask them the question can they provide pups for the sales.
My point about bags is personally I could do with money coming in rather than always paying out. I've heard 20 and 40 mentioned but let's say 30 per dog, that's money your saving as your not spending on trials and race entry, you wouldn't make money but you'll not spend as much on em!
Click keep up the good work you and Davy know what I think of the effort your putting in, the above is only a few ideas that might help👍

Like Micheal said I think a bags racing would be a big step in right direction aswel. Maybe a one day a week during the day to start off where a bookie like William hill etc shows the races live . Run money would help small trainers a bit, not to make money but to help with running costs .

Advertise in the racing program and local papers to new owners. An add that explains how easy it is to get in contact with a local trainer and come along and purchase a dog for as little or as much as you like.Hundreds have probably passed through Drumbo had a great night and left wondering how they could get involved only to become a distant memory this is their opportunity and will help keep local trainers kennels full and a healthier pool of dogs.Regards to how successful the sale will be nobody knows but Drumbo needs new faces and this could be the answer if promoted right.

I've been saying for a long while now: the main doors where you enter into the grandstand, every smoker(and non smoker) come out to during race night should have BIG advertising for greyhound ownership and retired greyhound details. Flyers left with the bloody menus upstairs! It's simple really, I had a night upstairs over xmas with friends and the wife! 16 shares in 2 pups done!

I've 8 pups for an English guy all will be schooled and sent across the water, its the likes of these would be ideal for bags if they only turned out to be graders.
Another question/idea why isn't restaurant opened for other events like weddings, bingo etc. Make the most of the facilities
