I just heard of the sad passing of Des Whyte from Roscommon.
Des was a very successful businessman and raced his dogs under the 'Oran' prefix.
Oran Majestic won him a Puppy Derby and Oaks, whilst his Oran Classic reached the final of the English Derby and was runner-up to College Causeway in the Irish equivalent.
Yes Des was a great supporter of the greyhounds. Exceptional gentleman, very successful business man, also great supporter of Roscommon GAA and far too young to die. I would like to express my condolences to all his family. May he Rest In Peace. Paschal

so sorry to hear of the passing of Des Whyte. a great dog man. We have so many great memories with Des and the Brian Boru Club in London in the seventies.
