Very proud of how our boy Monster Fish is continuing to mature as he takes another big step in his career and will compete in another Group final at Cranbourne Cup this week off the back of a huge 2nd in the Group 2 Traralgon Cup last week.

The result also crowns him Gippsland Carnival Champion 2018 with an unassailable lead of 59 points going into the final race of the carnival on Saturday night. Blessed with early speed he ran a blistering 5.32 to the first marker which is 1L outside the long standing track record.

Bred by regal beginners the immortal Fernando Bale and speed machine Scissor Queen who has thrown speed throughout her litters irrespective of sire and just a brilliant brood.

Given his 400/450 times have consistently been top class (Ballart 25.09 etc) it seems he is now taking the next step at the premier 500m distance and contesting with the top echelon of dogs, we are hopeful that he continues his journey.

Well done. Very consistent beginner but not unexpected given breeding

Hope she leads the final & gets run down late by Maurice Minor (also a Surf Queen line)

Very impressive win last night mate.
I have just dropped his mum Scissor Queen at the vets to be mated to Barcia Bale
This mating will be identical to the super litter that produced Launching Pad winner Beast Unleashed

What would be the price tag on one of those?

What made you send him to nz? He would have probably made it as a stud dog in Australia if he kept running places in group races.

Not up to commercial stud standard as it is a very competitive place many top group dogs not really getting the chance they deserve, given the dominance of the top 3-4 sires. We moved him to NZ off the back of losing concentration a couple of times and wanted the best for him, FOLlure and new environment have been great for him. Hes not 3 years old for another month so hoping he continues in this vein of form.

Yeah you are right, there are a lot of good dogs that don't get the chance they deserve at stud. As far as him losing concentration a couple of times, I didn't see him not chase badly at any point in time and actually thought as far as Fernando bale pups go MF was one of the more consistent chasers he had. Good luck with him in NZ, hopefully he wins a couple of group races and has a stud career there for you.

Yep. I just watched the replay where he got in trouble. That run got past me. I just remember him in a few group finals in a row leading and chasing his heart out, but getting a small stitch and running a place.
