Gary,

Not sure of the relevance of the question. What are you trying to say?

Anyway - meetings - no idea, could not possibly count.

Tracks visited - Qld 3, NSW 11, ACT 1, Victoria 10, Tasmania 1. Numbers would be higher if we went back beyond 10 years.

Screen visits - the lot. Actually, this is a far more efficient and effective method of studying tracks than going there personally, mainly due to more info at hand, convenient replays and stewards reports.

Data analysed - all Australian tracks.

Videos checked - all the above plus NZ and occasional UK and USA.

For any new (to me) track my practice is to go out early and get the manager's permission to walk around it.

How about you?

You make me laugh. Only with one hour sleep because youre always on here telling stories.

John,

Just for the record, it would be interesting to know what more info you need about Gosford. I have given you name, rank and serial number. I watched the progressive decline of the (worn) grass track (which was actually more predictable than the present one). I studied the plans for the rebuilt track months before it all started. I made suggestions to GBOTA (all still valid but were ignored). I have personally picked up a few bits of blue metal at different times and thrown them away.

The only person who might know more is Paul Greentree but he has deserted us for a gallops venture. The council staff doing the maintenance have changed too many times. Anyone else at GBOTA is a FIFO type or a newcomer.

The track is under the broad control of the Dept of Lands which has then passed over management control to the Gosford Council (now CC Council). Council then leases various activities to outside bodies for racing or general community purposes - shows, displays etc, even a toxic rubbish disposal centre. It also approved harness training for a long while but eventually tossed them out.

On the other hand, other than an odd catch-up, I stopped patronising Gosford years back due to the routine disruptions on the first turn and to a string of other factors - not least sub-standard formguides. 99% of attendees are now trainers or touts, except for the occasional sporting club group and in holiday periods when tourists come over from the beach. Marketing barely exists and you also need a finely tuned GPS to find your way in to the premises (access changed when re-building was going on - hopefully dodging all the asbestos lying around).

For anything else I can recommend the fairies at the bottom of the garden (providing they are not too busy at Cessnock).
