Its actually a real testament to the people in the sport that its still going strong, its been a ship without a captain, a rudder, a map or a mainsail, and still its more successful than trotting.
Its one of the seven wonders of the modern world!

Too right, Tor. Imagine if the mainsail had some clean wind behind it instead of wind that resembles a breeze that waffs over a rubbish tip. The rubbish tip needs to be filled in and some industrial blowers need to be used.
Tally ho.

Will anyone ask John Keniry for a copy of his report, that allegedly SAVED our Industry according to Teflon Mike & BooBoo Grant After Teflon almost broke Boo Boo's ribs with his gaff! on National TV. I have respect for Mr. Keniry after AWAKENING to the fact he was being used as an unaware pawn by Teflon Mike to close the Industry on the back of Lie's & Deceit. BUT why would you come back again? Paid for an unfinished project? Keniry's report..........Never seen the light of day! McHugh report...........Never allowed to face any scrutiny! All Greyhound Participants......Tainted en masse as cruel masochists. GWIC ROADSHOW==Participants as Road/Kill!

The only thanks I will be giving Scott is when he is out of NSW on a one way ticket to SA were THEY don't want him. Has he not done enough damage by signing the ICA disaster.
Dr Keniry is nationally renowned for his experience and excellence in Australian agriculture and animal husbandry procedures. The terms of reference applied to his greyhound tour throttled his ability to provide an unbiased report. The data that was not admissible in his report would shoot holes through McHugh's paper work. This may be the reason his report hasn't been released. Hopefully he has communicated to the other commissioners that the bulk of McHugh's missing greyhounds were found living as pets in owners or trainers backyards. At the time of McHugh's report I had 32 greyhounds on my property. 4 were registered race dogs,11 were retired and removed from the racing register, some as breeders, others as pets and 17 were pups under 12 months and unnamed. Therefore, according to McHugh, 28 of my 32 greyhounds were considered dead, part of his missing 68,000.
GRNSW really needed to admit to McHugh at that time that they had inadequate reporting procedures and could not even guess how many greyhounds were actually domiciled in NSW.Instead they sat on their hands, probably to the delight of Baird and Grant.
Lets hope for a change of government and a SFF led select committee to put this issue to bed once and for all.

Trevor: GRNSW at the time was controlled by Newson, aiding and abetting McHugh. What chance did we have? They GRNSW cleared/cleaned off their Data Base as many Greyhounds as they could to lessen their Wonderful Package Deal of $1500 per race dog. No payments for Retired dogs, Broodbitches, Stud dogs, Un/named pups. Keniry believed the McHugh Report, and the figures Baird/Newson supplied on the numbers of Greyhounds in NSW. Until he begun his Tour. And quickly realised the figures weren't adding up, the Participants weren't cold/blooded killers, and he'd been duped. Hence the reason for my respect towards him. Hope it is not misdirected.
Terry,I agree. Read into his work with sheep and his ability to advise the federal government in times of rural animal crisis and you have to respect his achievements. I can only imagine that he is loyal to his trade, not his boss.No doubt he can provide the level head required for the checks and balances of upcoming policies. Hopefully he will be granted more than a one year term.
The commissions retraining requirements for trainers to bring their license to a minimum certification should prove to be a logistical nightmare. No time period for integration to new standards should be set until training facilities are organised, up and running. This episode won't be cheap. How far the commission decides to subsidise will be interesting.
I wasn't at the roadshow today but have heard from people who were there.
It was mentioned that the puppy bond was a decision of cabinet so it will be up to cabinet to change it. I guess that means get on to your local mps and write letters to the Minister and Premier.
There was a lot of discussion regarding the poor culture of the stewards. The way they treat people at the track and during kennel inspections. The fact that they are many ex-police which has meant a culture of enforcement and where participants are treated as criminals.
From those who have been to the roadshow so far it seems that they are actually trying to understand the issues and are willing to at least hear our side.
It may all just be pretense from them but if there is a chance that they will actually be different to GRNSW and will treat us with respect and utilise our knowledge and expertise then it is worth letting them know our thoughts on issues in the industry.

They have a $10mil for 4 years
60 staff x $50,000 = $3mil x 4 years = $12mil
And this is just for wages, where is the money coming from ??
They keep saying they want feedback, please tell me 3 critical area's where participants input with have a meaningful impact ?

Hi Anthony,
Not suggesting anything, but they recently advertised for two Compliance Officers @ $113k p.a. and a vehicle. They already have two. You are right about 60 staff which was quoted yesterday as well.

I had a good report for you (biased), but I accidentally pressed the wrong button and lost it all. Ggrrrrrr !
Anyway, it was well presented by the 2/3 Commissioners and CEO and well received by the eight or so participants who made the trek to the Social Club. The average age of participants was about 60. There was good discussion between the presenters and participants.
The main issues were the establishment of the Greyhound Racing Act and their roles and responsibilities, Code of Practice, increasing the re-homing rate and retirement plan for greyhounds, commencing 1 July 2018.
They will take away from GRNSW a lot of their duties such as enforcement, stewarding, vet duties, licensing. They are bound by the Act, Cabinet's decision to place a puppy bond, Mr Iemma's Reform Panel's recommendations (puppy bond included), etc. However, there is consultation. They haven't decided on the cost of the puppy bond because the word being used is `modest' so you can have a guess what they might be. Someone who was not at the meeting mentioned it could be $150 per pup, but that is yet to be seen. The other cost that could be imposed is a `modest' amount annually to be paid by the owner for their greyhound(s) that I believe is to be used at retirement. GWIC is bound to impose it, unless overturned by Cabinet which is a lot harder to do than to define what will be a `modest' amount.
About two thirds of the way through the session I felt that it was really `business as usual' except we have two entities at a massive cost to the industry. Strangely, there mightn't be separation in part, involving the two such as GAP at GRNSW and increasing re-homing rate and retirement plan at GWIC, licensing at GWIC and GRNSW conducting the licensing training process. GWIC mentioned racing for slower dogs, but won't racing being GRNSW's area of duties ? Don't we already have Pathways and Masters ? However, I agree that we should have more of them, even if it's limited to non-TAB and maybe final at TAB.
There will be a lot of consultation even though one entity will be up at Bathurst. I feel like GRNSW will look like a `shell' as they look after GAP, Grading and Racing on the commercial side.
The phasing in process of licensing will be over the next eighteen months where will be certified as doing some form of training. Length of time in the industry will give you credits and the process should not be too difficult as they take into consideration methods to conduct it e.g. seminars, online modules, ten question written Q & A through the mail, etc.
Carly mentioned a couple of other things.

Aren't compliance officers for internal matters? to oversee that a corp/business is doing all the right things? don't understand why they'd need a car
