Why do they continue to run the sales in the dark ages. If you look at any horse sales at the moment they live stream the auction and have live results. Live streams of the breeze up and recording available of the breeze or point to point etc. Yet greyhound sales seem to be a closed shop. Any time I ask I'm told it is to facilitate UK agents trying to get an earn. What good is that to anybody. A few simple improvements.
Live stream of trials and auction. Telephone/ internet bidding. Select sale before racing during the derby with auction after racing . Say 20 lots. Introduction of system similar to Bidpoint on the point to point website where a symbol is added a horse if it is for sale. You are then redirected to a sales site.
All of above are already in place elsewhere and should cost next to nothing to introduce. You only have to look at the amount of dogs sold for good money out of the recent stake at Enniscorthy with a little bit of promotion on youtube video.
Great ideas Pearse, i would also add that there should be a minimum bid of e500 for each dog, we are totally giving away dogs to england who are crying out for them to fill cards.

Wasnt this done at the Shelbourne Unraced Sales? Not sure about online bidding but trials and auctions were streamed live.
Pierse.....you are making too much sense.....that's not the way the Igb operate....less forward thinking please...hehe hehe
Many a true word is spoken in jest! Unfortunately both the IGB and the ICC are still stuck in 1958. As a small boy in that year I would go into my local bank with my hand written passbook where the teller would update the passbook using a fountain pen, no ballpoints allowed. In 2018 if I arrive at my greyhound stadium without my hand written racing book I would not be able to race my dog even though all information is fully available on line. Perhaps one day the authorities will realise that computers have been invented and that the racing stewards can scan a microchip and bring up the dogs details on a laptop or tablet. I just hope that I live that long!
