Yeah, it's called an election and then
I just watched it. Ryan finished up, but Minister Toole couldn't help himself and had to put in the last words, just typical of a politician. No apologies, no reasons why it just sat dormant for five months. Obviously, its about the money. Anyway, September isn't too far away.
Yeah, thanks Mick.

Well I'll stand rooted like a tree!, and will only believe it when it's "Finished". Amazing what an election year can produce, or is it only pie in the sky until the election is over! Tread warily!

Well at least it's something positive for a change election or not, because a while back things did'nt look To good for the future of GOSFORD.
Would have to agree Bill i was hearing that Gosford Hospital was interested in the land & so was State Rail so now that they have committed to Gosford track thats a Plus for now.

DA application has been approved for a car park to be built on the land between Gosford Showgrounds and Gosford High School. This will service the hospital.

Needs clarification. There is no land "between" those two. And it is quite a step from there to the hospital entrance. That's why the hospital has built multi-storey car parks on site.
Ive heard Gosford is changing 400 corner start with a 380 straight shoot built in with the resumption of track repairs this time round Finished and ready by oct
Good news , common sense prevailing if correct

Trevor,
Bush or not, there is no empty land between the Showground and the High School. (I think it may be an old watercourse, but I have seen an odd trainer disappear into the bush with a dog and a sugarbag). They have a common boundary.
There may be some confusion as there is a small strip on the southern end of the Showground area which is on a different release to the main body of land, but the same rules apply. This might cover part of the old trotting track.
But it is still Crown Land >>> Showground Trust. The School is also on Crown land and playing fields are adequate but not plentiful.
Any intrusions into the use or ownership of either would have all sorts of practical/political/environmental/community implications. Not likely. There would be comparable issues with the land on which WPK is located, possibly also Maitland and others.
As I said, it would be a messy place to locate a hospital parking area anyway.
Council has nothing much to do with any of this although it would be copied on any changes.

Nathan,
For interest, this is part of what I wrote to GBOTA in 2003 about what was at that stage a plan only for the 400m start.
"The solution is to shift the boxes outwardly by several metres and re-align them so that all runners get a reasonably direct look at the track. That is, construct a mini-shute."
The GBOTA rejected the suggestion out of hand. However, after a few months use they did shift the boxes out by about one metre on the existing concrete slab. Small mercy!
