Your a licensed participant with racing greyhounds ? most likely your neighbours are not with retired greyhounds - congrats on passing your inspection.

Could it be that they are not registered participants, in which case there is no power to conduct an inspection?
Or that the dogs are registered with the Council, in which case there would again be no power?

Geniuses, that's what I'm on about, all greyhounds, why should I be singled out to be inspected ,when the welfare of the dog should be every owners responability, should be all or none, just because there's don't race doesn't mean they shouldn't have to adhere to the conditions I do...

Rather obvious - because it would cost too much to implement the same inspection programmes, and there's too many votes involved to risk alienating the whole pet industry.
Perhaps it is just one of the realities that we have to accept by participating in the industry.
Not that much different to professional athletes agreeing to drug testing regimes when such regimes don't exist for amateurs.

how many greyhounds would get adopted out if you were going to get the relevant greyhound body inspectors coming to your property/house every year. That's why its not enforced upon all greyhounds as there is a duty of care for all owners now to try and place their retired greyhounds after racing.

don't bother answering if you aren't a trainer, its alright being an owner sitting on your ass letting the trainer do everything including getting it ready for adoption...

I just dont get what the whooooo haaaar is about kennel inspections !!!! Whats the big deal ? Open your doors , be polite , demonstrate that your doing everything right. Say bye and seeya in 12 months ?
Unfortunately some people do the wrong things in this industry and people need to be held to account. My door is always open and I welcome it as it rids the industry of the clowns we dont need in it

My point is we have to guarantee the welfare of the dog the rest of its life, if we have it, but once it's adopted, it's who gives a ****

I have had 3 inspections in the last couple of years ,even when I have had no dog's at home. I have had no trouble with the inspectors , They do their job and off they go ,the only problem is these two guys said they have been made redundant, I just hope the next lot we get are as decent.

Malcolm.....I agree to a certain extent of what you are saying...but most adopted dogs sleep in the house......there is no kennel.
Well done on getting your kennels passed.....you, like all of us, are doing the right thing. I totally agree with kennel inspections...although every year is a bit odd......as they aren't going to change much are they?
Funnily enough....I first got an owner/trainers license back in 1978. In those days I had to do a written questionaire.....and then they came out and inspected my kennels. Yes way back in 1978 they actually came out and did a kennel inspection.
Its a good thing.....and don't sweat the small stuff mate.

In horses all our lifes, Zero inspections or trouble.
7 yrs in dogs and surprise inspections with investigators, stewards enquirers, please explains, fines and endless amounts of paper work bungles and administration problems.
I just sold a Spiral Nikita bitch a Brett Lee, Kinloch Brae and Just the best Vial and I will not be buying anymore pups. Ive got pups coming through and Ive kept 1 brood bitch.
If there is hope I want to see a light.

malcolm your exactly right in what your saying,if the PTB, want to ensure the whole of life welfare, then inspections must be part of the adoption process,(but never will be)sure 10% of the new owners will take there new doggies for a latte in king st or to the show to parade them around ,but what about the other 90%,who knows??? as for the new inspectors mick ,i wonder if thats the same ones that let all the horses starve to death here in victoria, the mind boggles.
