malcolm your exactly right in what your saying,if the PTB, want to ensure the whole of life welfare, then inspections must be part of the adoption process,(but never will be)sure 10% of the new owners will take there new doggies for a latte in king st or to the show to parade them around ,but what about the other 90%,who knows??? as for the new inspectors mick ,i wonder if thats the same ones that let all the horses starve to death here in victoria, the mind boggles.
We had a Trainer up here (Nth.Rivers) who had a dog, never had a kennel, dog lived in the house, took dog to work every day He drove Bob/Cats, Crawlers, Scrappers etc (Dams, Channels, Clearing) The dog would gallop of into the nearby Paddocks chasing Rabbits, sniffing out Foxes, Bandicoots etc for a couple of hours come back and sleep under the truck. He'd put some Iodine on the scratches, Fat on the Pads! Never trialled, or Slipped the dog, rock hard and keen as, you'd imagine. This dog won City Races! Trained that way! If some Compliance Officer told this fellow, he was doing the wrong thing and stop! He'd have been sat on his Bum in 2 sec flat. Moral is not EVERY dog needs to be trained, Housed, and Fed in a Robotic way.
