Noel,

I am not a GBOTA member and have no intention of being one. (I am not sure I am eligible anyway). However, I have had quite a few formal dealings with them (two major ones) and found them #&^$#*(.

There is only one issue today and that is how to create a comparable organisation (bar the tracks) and establish a reliable and worthy position as an advisor/lobbyist/consultant to the two authorities and government.

It has been tried before (UGA for example) and failed due to a lack of professionalism. To succeed, it needs a leader and a leading group, expertise, seed funding, significant annual subs and support from a majority of the 65% of trainers who are not members of GBOTA plus the many others concerned about the industry's future. With the right structure I would certainly contribute. Without that, forget it.

Some advocate a legal challenge. Well, there may be one or two aspects which encourage that approach but it should be done only as part of an overall effort and even then it must be carefully evaluated - not least because it would cost a lot of money.

Chucking rocks will never work. It simply causes your opponents to build higher walls.

The latest I read is that he went down to Victoria discussing welfare issues.
Figure that one out if you can.

About $6million in the bank and about $40million in assets. Come on members, what are you doing ?

Disclaimer: I'm not a GBOTA member, but was one for about three to five years (1980s) and again for about one year in (2009 ?). I was Secretary / Treasurer of one branch and MDA delegate I think of another due to mergers. In 2009 it was a token membership.

I am a member.
I've been racing at Potts park non tab meetings recently, its a nice day out to give the non chasers and gap rejects a run around and dogs with no form a chance to get points to get a run on tab.
But trainers are still taxed $7 entry to provide the racing, I bought a can of coke and a bottle of ginger beer it cost $8.50, a friend won a meal voucher in previous weeks raffle and bistro said no it was out of date, win p/m is $270 paid by grnsw with no top up from gbota, now remember this is a club in metropolitan Sydney with POKER MACHINES.
Did someone ask what they are doing for breeders owners and trainers? Or to encourage family and public participation?

Oh dear.
By that description I'd say they are doing the exact opposite to encourage ANYONE.

Out of principal I would refuse to race there and I would let it be known why.

BTW Allen, were the drinks cold or did they charge extra to be chilled?

My pet hates are being charged to supply product and getting ripped off...!!!

All counter-productive to industry health.

That's why the state committee and Brenton Scott are a protected species, the branchs only care about their own back yard,NSW greyhound stakeholders are being shafted by apathic GBOTA branch committees who haven't got the intelligence to vote out the traitors.

Potts park isn't a GBOTA track as far as I know, it's not listed on their website.

OK Guys I will give you a little insite into potts park, about 4 years ago when the new board took over they were about 4 MILL in the red so the guys on the board have been working their butts off trying to get it back to were it should be.

Now every CENT potts receive from GRNSW for prize money goes into that race day fund EVERY CENT!.

People who work there on race day they all get paid BY THE CLUB and most of them when racing is finished take off for the night shift at WENTY or BULLI.
coca cola cannot be bought from super markets and brought into the club BIG NO NO!.
POKIES, if you go for a drive and turn left or right for 5 minuets you will run into 2 of the biggest clubs in NSW DOOLEYS AND BANKSTOWN.
GBOTA have nothing to do with PP and may GOD help them if they did.
