kevin im not sure about the lies, i just answered grants question ,
i was listening to rad hadley this morning on my way to traralgon track,
when he said he was about to announce something big for the dogs in nsw

i pulled into the track and the interview/announcement was just starting i was running early so listened to the whole interview,, and it said it would become an annual event ,

i know from being on these forums for some 18 years now , that no announcement for what ever , will please everyone ,

to me it seems on face value its a good idea ,, and should get greyhounds good promotion ,

i also know most of these big money races are won by the big boys ,
but their is always the chance for the little guy to keep the dream alive for most of us ,

I will just finish with this quote

I truly think that if this race happens the prize money from LADBROKE'S should go to the winner and the government money should go to the NSW CHILDREN'S CANCER APPEAL how many people in nsw would be happy with that.

At least when Racing NSW announced the Kosciuszko they first announced prizemoney increases across the board which included increases for 4th - 10th placing.

What do we get from GRNSW? All the money goes to 1 race.

18 months ago NSW would have been happy with a $10,000 race anywhere.
Now they put up a million dollar race and there's still a problem with you..?

Never heard the horse racing industry complaining about big race prize money..!
Buy yourself a well bred pup,get it reared properly and your a chance like everyone else.
But I suspect anyone with a negative comment about this brilliant race has a problem
with big breeders..PAW ect..And our top trainers around the country ..?who are top trainers for a reason...

Already the negativity that is inbred in this industry is quickly bubbling to the surface.
Like life itself, when you have been knocked down, dont complain about it, get up and grab your opportunities with outstanding possible publicity and reap the benefits...this is a genuine chance to get the sport back into the limelight and offers some real opposition to our enemies and detractors.
Support the initial event and lets see what happens before poo pooing it...for heavens sake, the event has just been announced, all the details are yet to be released.
No wonder greyhound racing is in the position it is, nothing is ever acceptable to a large number of participants, maybe its time to hang up the leads and muzzles fellas, move on and leave it to those that have the confidence and desire to succeed and hopefully end up with the dog that has the ability to collect the prize at the end of the rainbow.

Maybe you need to sleep on it Mal and consider the options, tell me what government lasts forever, or even 3 terms...this one is dancing on ice as is either gone or will be next time around...take what is offered when you can as the chance may never come again, then clamour for the next one, opportunities are few and far between and you should never pass up any along the way

Its attitudes like yours that allows things to never change or accept any new challenges that dont suit you personally, particularly when the curtains are about to be drawn if things remain as is in this industry.

ps...no need to edit it Mal, if you think that I am a FLOG, thats an opinion that you are entitled too, nevertheless, your opinion of the current situation saddens me.

Sorry, just thought that the WORLD'S RICHEST GREYHOUND RACE should have its own thread.

There should be celebrations all around Australia!
Can't think of a better way to make a statement that Greyhounds are moving on...
It is a MASSIVE announcement and you have to give credit when it's due...MAJOR step forward in the right direction.
It will ignite fresh interest in ownership, training, and the general public's interest.

Love the idea of the Masters race too.

Now all that needs to happen is the other states to climb on board with this idea and get their own major upgraded races going and all of a sudden, the sun begins to shine again.

Just waiting for QLD to announce a 2 MILLION DOLLAR SERIES! Lol.

Who would have thought, with all the negativity that has happened over the last 3 years, we would now be talking about a 1 MILLION DOLLAR dog race?

If this doesn't get the saliva going, nothing will.

To all the people who kept on breeding through all the negativity, you might just win yourself a cool Mil in the next year or so...GOOD LUCK.

I know there are some negatives with this but believe the positives far outweigh them.
EMBRACE the GOOD NEWS...it's been a loooong time coming!

LMAO A 1 million dollar dog race where there's probably 15 to 20 trainers Australia wide that have the capability and the dog to win such a race Cant wait to see Dyna Patty etc etc racing a field at wagga to qualify,Hopefully she gets around without breaking her neck or without some dog that's had 75 starts for 1 win running into her . State government throws in half a mil? The same government that banned greyhound racing. Oh and they also have a state election coming up in march WOW what a coincidence. What grade of dog is eligible? The way they were talking it up every greyhound in Australia is eligible.if this is the case there will be 30 races per meeting What distance is it over must be 500 mtrs as wenty don't have a 400 Some of these tracks named mainly race 300 mtrs so those dogs cant be eligible So there beat up that every dog in Australia can qualify is a crock. So its only open too 500 mtr dogs really.Sorry if I come across a bit negative but it seems to be a bit funny a government that wanted dish lickers banned is now coughing up half a mil for a race. You want a way to promote greyhound racing Theres a dog in N.Z named Wheelchair Norm he won his 98th race today at the age of 5 from 198 starts Get him over here.

We both have been around a LOT of years , we know when if it is too good to be true, it's usually a scam, and this is has the makings of the biggest..!

Maybe Mal, but what other positive alternatives are out there...bloody zero by my reckoning and this one is in the bank...now lets start working on the next one.

Tell me what you would like to see NEXT, then we can work on that...but like I said, take every opportunity that presents itself and then move forward, otherwise we are standing still and that means going BACKWARDS, just look where we are now and
From where I stand, it doesnt look that good!

By the way, its OK Mal, I have thick skin and whats more, I think that you are an alright sort of bloke (lol)
