What about the run of Miss Splendamiro, hey!?
What a magnificent bitch!

Benali!...29.29 coming from an awkward box then destroys them!

Yes, all blood pumping riveting stuff!

By some accounts the track upgrade is a great success too!

Yes, yes, yes...much to rave about.

With all respect to Timmy I do miss my vino slugging mate.
One of a kind and near impossible to come close to.

Anyways, glad the mob is ecstatic and soaking in the atmo.

Tally ho.

Is there any truth to the rumour that there will be blood testing in the semi-finals and final?

It makes sense if true because if they are talking about all of the integrity regarding rehoming (which is obviously only good), why not prove all dogs are racing clean and silence a lot of whispers?

No, TJ, I'm with you brother but this is what it is and the fight for welfare and 1000 other improvements will go on long after this race, as it has been long before this race.

Most would agree what should have happened but it hasn't and it won't, not this time.

The bell has already rung, the fight for what's right on this occasion is over and the show rolls on with the world watching...

Only two choices mate...
1. Watch it and enjoy the Greys.
2. Turn off the TV.

After all is done...keep fighting.

3. Watch $1.7 Million sail away down the river.

BTW. $5,800 for a City heat win! $60 entry
$1,700 for a Provincial heat win! $60 entry. Level playing field?

1.7 mil would never have been there in the first place had it not been for shakey political knees.

Your second part...could not agree more, but that's what you get when the feet are faster than the brain.
Ill thought out, incompetence, egos before ability.
Not to mention desperation.
As I said, it is what it is...what's new?

Your very right Tony, but what I want to Know is how really this race got off the ground in the first place ,? as GRNSW are not totally in the control of Gov't ie Racing Minister ? Where was the code that the Stat.Body/ Code is to operate by,,? Gone out the window completely, and ignored here, not only the race in question be in doubt for the future, but this does nothing to help our future, one bit, only those hoping to rise up the ladder to become politically better of , from allowing it to happen , the way I see it it, . Again our actual license, card and all has been put back to 2019 , surely GRNSW could have gone through the process on behalf of GWIC, Come on Sandro we need an Avenue of feeding you our "feedback" please, it's not working at the moment ? Please Bob Glover

Hi Bob

I have no influence on GRNSW and how they programme racing

The AWC may not be the most appropriate platform for participants to voice their concerns on the value of this race to NSW participants

Perhaps direct emails to Tony Mestrov & whoever is deciding programming at GRNSW may be more appropriate

Not that it means anything to me but it looks like the Vic trainers are in cohorts or had noms closed for all 14 heats at Wenty prior to last night. 1st week of Wenty qualies leave the majority to the Wheeler trained dogs, next week the Thompsons turn? and last week the others with the Brittons going in each week. BTW go Elzy Lay at Nowra tomorrow night run 1st or 2nd mate.

Hi Sandro, Sorry what I did mean was more Avenue towards feedback from participants for in general towards GWIC< especially ,at the the moment re. licensing,ie waiting another period before being able to determine what we are taking on ? As well those that have private trial tracks /slipping /bull rings etc all these things were to come into play, so we were told ?so that the property inspections for the appropriate equip. and facilities could be passed by inspection,..This passing for ever onwards now june 30 2019 is not doing us one favor at all, more hurt to the industry, as I see it Bob Glover

2 Dislikes thus far Bill! You can understand why City & Interstate trainers didn't support the Provincial's.
On a Pro/Rata basis: Entry fee to Prizemoney, the City heats entry should have been $200.
$100k for a MASTERS race!! Demeans almost all Group races in this State. (No Country- Provincial heats) Mind numbing really?

Terry,

You're right - it's not logical at all, although a good slice of the cash is going to GAP etc.

I suggest when the government gets involved in creating voting incentives the best thing is to relax and think of mother England. Whether GRNSW is any better is another subject

Meantime, the overall question of state rivalries is not a goer. People have been moving their dogs back and forth for yonks, and will continue to do so. SO they should - it promotes efficiency.

What I don't like is the principle of restricting any races to local dogs, as is common in Vic and sometimes elsewhere. It is always poor policy to discriminate that way. Currently, it also serves to make it even tougher to maintain full fields.

Whatever they are supposed to achieve - eg more breeding - practice shows they do not work. They are just "feel good" efforts by people who should know better. The same goes for direct breeding incentives. Once one state does it, they all follow so there is no competitive advantage and you are back where you started.

If you have a problem, attack it directly. Two wrongs never make a right.

Bruce.
$100k for a Masters race? they are promoting Greyhound racing backwards. Rewarding dogs at the end of their career.
All other States have introduced new Breeding incentives with attached bonuses. NSW went (You guessed right) backwards, by scaring Breeders off with a "Puppy Bond".
Take a quick squiz at any NSW track meet, and note the number of Maiden fields? 2015 and prior you had at least 3 maiden races over 2 distances. Now lucky to get one, with vacant boxes being the norm

One Million could have gone to setting up GAP centres. Desperately needed North, West, & South in this State.
Who will remember? Who won the Million Dollars in 6 months?

GRNSW and the ABC have a lot in common! Full of Directors with no vital Knowledge of what they are actually paid to do! Other than to kowtow to Publicity seeking Pollies. JMO

Terry,

Assessing the industry on the basis of the current race mix is pretty pointless, other than to say it is messy. It was allowed to get there because administrators failed to work out what was happening, or what was likely to happen, and therefore took no corrective action to right the ship. So much for 5 year plans.

Equally, the Million Dollars was obviously a political exercise, not an initiative of GRNSW. Further, the cash came from outside sources - the Minister grabbing half out of unclaimed dividends and Ladbrokes hopping in for some worthwhile publicity. So it was not really available for normal purposes but some is going to the GAP program you called for (more votes?).

Similarly, the Masters program, where NSW has been a latecomer, is in my view a good thing for two reasons: first it takes a little pressure off re-homing and, second, it is an economic incentive for owners and trainers to get more reward for their investment. The racing life of a greyhound is fearfully short on average (around one year) and can be over in a flash unfortunately.

All this fades into insignificance when you consider the totality of the racing scene - too many races, too few dogs, many incapable of running longer trips. It's a national problem which needs to be attacked nationally. More Masters racing will help that a little.

Even so, if the Million Dollars does not encourage more breeding, nothing will.

PS: the ABC does not kowtow to the present government (quite the reverse), only to Labor and Greens.

Should be Blood testing & hair samples taken from all runners if they were fair dinkum if they can afford the massive prize money shouldn't be a problem with the swabs guess we will wait & see.

Some of the unplaced from last week's heats are reserves.
Surely she advances to the next round?

All the placegetters from last week qualified so she doesnt need to run in heats. Unplaced runners can have another crack.
