It is with great regret that we announce the closure of clonmel track supporters club It was passed at our E.G.M that we were left with no option but to close the club. It was also decided that the funds would be used to purchase a set of the fast traps so a donation of 20,000 was given to the I.G.B to help with the purchase and fitting of the traps. We also gave 1,000 to both the I.g.b retired greyhound trust c/o Barry Coleman and to great hounds in need c/o Paul o riordon which will be used the rehoming of retired greyhounds On behalfof myself and the committee we would like to say a massive thank you to all our supporters and sponsors that have supported us over the past 12 years we couldn't have done it without your kind generosity. We would also like to thank the track manager Eddie Anderson and his staff for their help during this time.
Many thanks yours in sport Noel o brien Chairman C.T.S.C
12 years is a long time to for your Supporters Group to run. It was obviously very successful when youve a healthy pot of 22k to share out. Thank you for you and your Committees service over the years.
What a great shame must have left a lot of people very disappointed. Every track really needs a supporters club. You guys did a great job.

We had to close the club because the directors of the track refused to let us carry out what we were set up to do ie sponsorship member's nights ECT.

A devastating step backwards for Clonmel to lose such a successful Supporters Group.

Would the formation of a GOBA give you more influence?
I really dont think the skills and experience of your Committee should be wasted. Your overall aim was for the good of the local greyhound owners etc. They still need your support. Maybe a different strategy is worth trying?

Brian we had to do it through the igb as we needed them to get the traps installed that's the reason we went that way.

Linda there is a GOBA in tipperary already and we don't need any more GOBA's as the AGM for all the GOBA's had to be called off over the carry on at the meeting Finally I would like say and I hope all greyhound folk see this that it's not only the board of the IGB that have the industry in such a bad state,The government and us all have a lot to answer for

Why did they have to be paid surely its in their best interests the track be maintained and updated with more efficient trapping system... If they decide to close clonmel in 12 months time will they refund yer 20k...

Brian the board would never have put new traps into clonmel because of the financial situation there so we thought that buying the traps it would help the track to generate more business by the way of more people using it for trials and racing.

A big thanks to you John and redmills for all the help in sponsoring the untaxed stake and our member's nights which would not have been so successful without ye're help we had a great partnership going it's a pity it was frowned upon by the powers that be. Thanks again John

Maurice, Clonmel had the best supporters club in the country, they put Clonmel up there with great prize money on offer for good stakes and bailed Clonmel out many times financially when they were in trouble. The trouble is the fat cats didn't want a slice of the pie, but the whole Pie. The way you all were treated was disgraceful and a massive loss to Clonmel. The friends of Clonmel Track run by the management will never reach the heights of the independent track supporters club. Well done to you Noel and all the committee for the endless work that made Clonmel Track Supporters club the best in the country.
