Thanks Peter .. it's been a bit of a battle to get the word out .. going to put a bit of work into the 4 clubs in my region to see if they will help by informing their members ... so far they haven't been keen to do so
Built up a decent email list so send stuff to them and most of them forward things on to others ... so getting there

If this is the standard of some of the "opposition" from the AJP, you're a shoe in, Geoff! :-)
Thought you and others might "enjoy" this pearler ...

Thanks Jack ... the SFFP are standing candidates in every region in the Upper House ... so you'll be able to vote for them wherever you are.
There are 8 regions - 3 rural and 5 metro .. they have an elected member standing in 2 of the 3 rural regions .. Northern and Eastern and I'm standing in the Western so would be good to make it a trifecta

Tom Elliott interviews Samantha Lee from the anti-gun lobby and gently tears her apart. (It starts at the 1.12.30 mark).
The relevance to the greyhound industry is the way in which a researched & facts based approach demolishes vocal minority arguments by exposing the lack of knowledge, research and facts.
This type of approach (systematic demolition of over-represented vocal minorities through fact-based approaches) is what the industry has been lacking. Perhaps Tom Elliott might be an option for better representing the industry. EXTERNAL LINK And perhaps the audio clip might progress Geoff's chances in voters not greyhound industry oriented.

Pre-polling booths have been open for nearly two weeks and are open until at 8pm tonight and tomorrow up to half of all votes for this year's Victorian election are expected to be cast via the pre-polls before election-day, with political parties adapting their campaigns to reach the maximum number of voters.
The Victorian Electoral Commissioner expects 4550 per cent of votes to be cast at the pre-polling booths before election-day.

I wasnt going to post this copy of an email that I sent to Alan Jones from radio 2GB this morning because it is an email specifically sent to Alan, nevertheless, because of the importance of this election, I have relented... my apologies to Geoff Collins for using your name without your permission.
Alan, regarding the coming elections, particularly Victoria, many people (including yourself) have forgotten the forgotten people, by that I mean specifically the GREYHOUND INDUSTRY and to a lesser degree, the racing industry overall. Believe me, the grass roots of the greyhound industry were mostly from a Labor background, now the industry en masse, I mean up to 90% of them have turned and in Victoria specifically, are actively campaigning against them and the Coalition as well to a lesser degree, I might add, in fact one lifetime Victorian greyhound industry person, namely Geoff Collins, a noted breeder is standing for election on saturday for the SFFP party in the upper house in State election this Saturday as a protest against the 2 majors. In NSW, the industry is running a similar campaign amongst members for the SFFP, except this time, the main target is the COALITION (we have long memories), the Labor Party is no friend either but are being put in front of the Coalition on the ballot. The indepeentas, SFFP, ONE NATION and the lesser parties are going to have enormous sway in the coming elections and their preferences WILL make their presence felt, particularly those of the SFFP and ONE NATION , believe me. I am expecting the polls to be proven completely wrong on saturday, when the silent protest vote from the racing industry is counted and distributed, I trust as a whole, but nevertheless, the votes from the greyhound industry will make a difference.

Good luck tomorrow Geoff and for the SFFP, I know they can only look for an increase in representatives, but I do trust that they and the other independants that have THE GREENS & LABOR at the bottom of the preferences with THE GREENS last get the result that they are looking for....hopefully with a swing against the Labor/Green alliance they fail to get an absolute majority and your people hold the balance of power. The greyhound industry and the State needs this to happen, same for the Coalittion in NSW.
Fingers crossed!!!

Felt I need a bit of (dark?) humour to lighten up the election issues.
So took my ex-racer to the election booth, all decked out in racing vest, muzzle etc.
Approached by Libs & Labor pamphlet pushers, who both stated support for the industry (have they been briefed to say this?).
Then approached the Greens pusher and introduced my 'dead dog'. Obviously had to explain that he was in the 17,000 dogs that were declared dead by their leader.
Unfortunately (for him) he fell into the trap. Then went into the issues of the Greens accepting anecdotal evidence & outright lies and not making fact-based decisions, offered visiting actual greyhound properties to see reality, and so on. All in fun (sort of) but there was no escape.
Not only distracted from pamphlet pushing, but had him 'associating with the enemy' for some time. Wish I had organised photos.
With only him there, he was never going to accept my request to hold my dog while I voted. When I moved away, a girl who had been watching then offered to hold him while I voted.
When I returned, 2 young girls (university students?) had come to assist Greens pusher. After some more 'greyhound education', I realised they would have held my dog.
Damn - timing is everything.
