I think they used to be called goodbye stakes if a dog improved to much he was put out of the stake. I think igb put a stop to these sweepstakes.

I'm guessing owning a genuine A6 dog regularly beaten half the track by a Novice finding 10+ lengths on its grading trials didn't inspire ownership, otherwise why did they change the system? Equally owning a Novice being beaten half the track in a Novice Stake doesn't appeal either. So, what is the answer?

Tricky one.
Back in the day you had to waited 5 or 6 weeks to get a pup on so big improvement was the norm if the pup had potential.
Some form of limit on time finding may suit the majority but will go down like a lead balloon in certain quarters.

Great to see that with a push they re going to scrap that joke of a Novice Grading System it was and was always going to be a pharse and a failure from Day one and the stats are there to prove it.

Fair play to everyone that Phoned / E Mailed and cotacted the IGB. to complain about it because they have finally seen sense and are going to change it for the better.

Have to agree with you Katherine. Who wants a genuine graded a6 dog for example racing against a potential AO pup in every race as it used to be.

Better grading. And stop all these sweepstakes NOBODY wants them.

Its not just unraced sweepstakes, there are far too many sweepstakes unraced or graded full stop.

28.50 pups going in against 30.50 pups is just totally screwed up.Whoever came up with that being acceptable needs to be taken out of dogs altogether. To many big professional trainers being listened to, small owner trainers being totally ignored as usual. Phil Meaney gone made no difference more political plonkers on board now, same shit

The IGB up to now have been allowed to do as they please when they please and do not have to answer to anyone. Divide and Conquer has always been their moto and when people become a thorn in the IGBs side they will do virtually whatever it takes to undermine them as they do not like to be questioned or confronted regarding greyhound issues. Now that the IGB have their new Flock of sheep in the pen they think that the thorns will go away, we wont be going anywhere until those responsible have been held accountable for the demise of our industry. They hold consultations to see what information they can muster up from owners/breeders, it all looks good when its published on Talking Dogs & makes it look as if the IGB are working with the owners/breeders, but what people dont realise is that the IGB have already made up their minds on what they are going to do regardless of what the owners have to say/think. The IGB failed to publish on Talking Dogs that everyone who attended their last Forum was against this mad cap idea of Novice stakes but they went ahead with it regardless, claiming it was a great success , (what a load of bull) We have been continually complaining about our Regulations Dept. but our CEO has failed to acknowledge our cries to remove those responsible for one failure after another in this Dept. and allow the Drug culture to continue with one cover up after another from the same guilty parties. SiS has openly claimed that the level of Integrity within this industry is so bad that no one will bet on the races or trusts this organisation, this statement from SIS should have been a wakeup call for the IGB to respond and lay down the law, but no one has bothered to intervene or take control of this sinking ship. Our Chairman stated that there will be no more breeches on his watch, who was he trying to fool?????.
