The interesting development is that Dayle Brown is now representing them, the same Dayle Brown who was the boss of Integrity at RVL and was the brainchild of the Cobalt saga, then 2 I C of GRNSW for a millisecond then employed by Racing Queensland but now on a 3 month contract as a consultant for them.

How does he get to play on both sides of the fence. This is what our racing industries have come to. Taking things way to far involving innocent people and disguising it as integrity. The Harness world is shot, the greyhound world is only a fraction of what it was and the horse racing world is adding millions to high end races.

V'Landys was a part of the Greyhound massacre in NSW and the money being spent to compete with Victoria is obscene!

So tell me, who profits from this strangulation. Always plenty of questions but no answers from the silent minority.

It seems the contradiction here is that a lawyer is representing someone where he is defending a position on a matter that he would previously have been prosecuting in a prior job responsibility.

A blunt and cynical view could be taken that morals are not a factor in respect of lawyers. After all, we have an adversarial legal system.

But this should perhaps be better put as: the legal profession use their expertise to maximise their client's position, regardless of perceived or actual guilt.

In this case, the lawyer should know the prosecuting position very well, and be well-equipped to deal with it. Other lawyers would not have that experience. So from a defendant's position, he could be a very good choice.

True That Ross.
We all would love to see a level playing field ....For all big and small
THE GREAT DIVIDE .....
What pisses many off is the lack of consistency shown by the GRV ....and the RADB ...
I hope these two hammer the GRV and walk away free of all charges .....if its shown the testing procedure was flawed....

Androstane.
GRV have revoked the suspension on both trainers. Appeals have been withdrawn.

Can someone explain what this means?

Also another recent case of Morphine.
3 months suspended sentence a.k.a no penalty.
Yes there is a connection.....

It means that the 2 trainers have some kind of evidence that would allow the suspension to be dropped, so no need to go thru the RADB if the Stewards withdrew.

You may never get the full story on this one, it will be dumbed down in some way.

The Morphine one was an out of competition swab of an unnamed pup and I will guess that the inquiry note left out Codeine. Morphine/codeine is typical to a positive to poppy seeds. Easy to figure if its not racing being fed bread.

Poppy seeds again.
I worked in a bakery for 3 years. Never put a poppy seed on anything. Go to any bread isle in any supermarket and see if you can find bread with poppy seeds in it......even if you can find some, it would be more expensive than regular bread. Not many trainers known for spending more than necessary....

Not sure why GRV bother to have an Integrity department.

There must be a shortage on poppy seeds in SA .JQ
My Local Coles Woolies sell poppy seed rolls and breed for the same price as the normal stuff
Easy to get a cross contamination from any bread and if the new testing equipment used to test for it has found small traces of it then i guess many are screwed in the future ...
I hear the new testing Equipment can pick up almost any containment even in the natural environment like cobalt and arsenic and in this case maybe the GRV jumped the gun again and as i said before i hope the GRV get a hammering for the testing they are doing at present ...

Who will hammer the GRV They dont do the testing they merely collect the sample And If this is done according to the rules then GRV have done all that is required of them. The authority that determines the correctness of the collection process (on the evidence presented) is the RADB. What does it have to gain by hammering the GRV. it could be construed that there is a fair bit of vindictiveness in this thread that does nothing for the credibility of the industry or those that are highlighting their bitterness toward it

I actually have no problem with GRV itself. It would be accurate to say I have a some bitterness toward GRSA.
But GRV are the ones who have withdrawn the suspensions before it went to RADB. I thought the whole idea of integrity was to be transparent to the punting community and the community at large.
This thread is about a level playing field. When I was in the sport, there was a general feeling that the top end were treated differently. This latest media release without any detail only confirms that feeling. This apparent cover up, also does little for the credibility of the industry.

Hayden do i show bitterness then i must be bitter man ..

I do not agree with the way the GRV are conducting tests at present .

I do not agree with the way some people are treated .

I do not agree with wasting our money on special pet projects .

I do not agree with Cobalt and Arsenic testing levels .

I do not agree with building a new unproven track and the Company making the design decisions has FAILED IN THE PAST with Horsham so why use them again when clearly they have shown they cannot build a Greyhound Track or do they understand anything about the Transitions points on a track .IMO

I do not agree with the way the RADB treats some one way and others a different way

I do not agree on the amount of GRV employees now at Chetwynd st .

Can I remind the players that the cobalt rules were drawn up by GA, albeit after a crappy investigation.

GRV and others were simply invited to join up as it is the states which have the power to apply penalties etc. GA has no such power.

The fact that the states all said yessir, three bags full, gives them no credit but, to be realistic, it was the states with their GA director hats on who approved it in the first place anyway. Very circular.

It's the system which is broken. Ditto for the gallops.

Bruce - I won't go into the dynamics of how the Cobalt threshold was derived nor the methodology used to arrive at the threshold.

But seriously - other than environmental Cobalt sourced from food sources, supplemental cobalt has little place in the racing industry or anywhere else for that matter. Case in point- ever wandered into a chemist warehouse for your latest Arsenic or Cobalt supplement because itll cure your problems? Ha. Of course not, neither exist and trust me if there were a way for these metals to find there way into the health and well-being market for humans theyd be available.

How many instances of cardio-myopathy, typically left ventricular failure does it take to know that this is not a great supplement in any instance? Just do a google search 'cobalt chloride beer'. Well documented cases of poor old folk drinking beer in Canada because it was used as a stabiliser to keep the beer foamy longer dying from this (late 1960's).

There's been a marked decrease in dogs dying at the completion of a race (heart failure) since the threshold was introduced. Same with thoroughbred horses.

I know heaps will disagree with me on this and I don't really care but if you inform yourselves, look at the statistics of horses and dogs that died post race before they left the track before and after Cobalt became a measurable substance that is tested and swabbed for based on a threshold, you will see the difference in numbers. Inform yourselves on what has actually happened to humans let alone animals and you will learn quickly that cobalt as a heavy metal is environmental for sure and can't be avoided in entirety but supplementing with it is not a fantastic thing. So argue about the threshold by all means but not the logic behind the restrictions.

Only sharing one link but google away for the rest as there are heaps more studies out there about how detrimental supplemental cobalt can be---
EXTERNAL LINK
And for those who state Cobalt doesn't performance enhance just google 'cobalt chloride hypoxia mimetic' to understand how and when it has been used as a performance enhancing agent.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, it's just that I prefer opinions that are informed.
