We are undergoing a real crisis in our Irish Industry.

The public have been, in my opinion, misled by untruths, omissions, old footage, overseas footage and are calling for our funding to be stopped. We are no longer just battling the animal rights extremists.

It may not matter which Federation is recognised by the Seanad unless we stop this tide of negative publicity. Please put this aside and focus on getting positive messages out to the public. Anything negative coming from a Federation is not representing any stakeholder.

Can we please focus on how we can challenge the data in the Preferred Results Report and get that message out to the public.

Whilst we are sickened by the cruelty we saw, we can challenge almost all the issues viewed in the RTE footage yet no one is doing that in the public domain.

Where are the Press Releases explaining the data for 2018? We know where almost all the dogs are, even without a traceability system.

This is the whole Point Lynda......YOU know how hard the Tipperary GOBA( Not the TOM SMITH CLUB) is working with TIPERARY CLUBS at the moment.....you know Tipp GOBA and the Non Company Federation is working behind the scenes to combat the Anti THreat!

Other than collaborating with the RTE programme.....and throwing negativity for the last number of years, what has the GLC done????.
The people of Tipperary have not even seen or heard of Tom Smith since the RTE programe.

This matter needs to be brought to a head and the Owners & Breeders Put in place the people THEY want to represent them.....

A clean Fair Joint Extra Ordinary General Meeting of both Federation Clubs an impartial mediator in the Chair.

LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE...........I call on this to happen ASAP so that the industry can have the voice it chooses.

That is Democracy..........

Id agree with that. Those who represent us should be democratically elected.

(As you know, I was a member of the Tipp GOBA for several years before the NGOBA was formed. Tipp GOBA have always conducted themselves in a professional manner.)

Yvonne the Federation CLG are the only recognized body you have to worry about this other Group who are claiming to be something they are not are only messengers for the IGB, they haven't posted the minutes of that meeting and the haven't posted the full letter from the Seanad why is this ???,

Yvonne
You could do this but in order to be constitutionally correct an EGM would have to be called to include both sides of the dispute with an independent Returning Officer checking all GOBAs credentials to see who is qualified to vote (none of your 2Tipps, 2Kerrys nonsense). If they refuse to take part like they did at the last EGM, then they should be taken to court and compelled to comply, this could be paid for by crowd funding. I for one would put my hand in my pocket.

Iv a little poll up and running on another thread so we'll soon see who supports who...

The support of the people so far is to the IGOBF at 34 to 1 so I'd still like to know who appointed the members of the RTE Federation or sorry the CLG Federation and what GOBAs are affiliated to them and if none I'd like to know WHY' as I feel this is very important going forward in our current situation. To stand up and talk on behalf of the people you have to have the backing of the people if you don't have that you have nothing.

Hi everyone in the greyhound industry
I just logged in to read what was on this thread which is called response to RTE program and i see there is a discussion on who is or who isn't recognised .
What i would like to know is is the IGB or the seaned running this industry as far as I am aware the Government appointed the IGB TO do the job so now we have two groups claiming to be the federation to which one is recognised by the SEANAD and one by the IGB.
Then we have 30 or so people who claim to be the tipperary GOBA and 2 others that claim the same i think that one is a none contest.
I have been a member of the Tipperary GOBA for a number of years now and was a member of the committee in 2018 and I was made interim treasurer after the open meeting called by the then secretary Siobhan McGrath and the treasurer Tom Smith the rest of the committee wanted to call a committee meeting only but the secretary sent out a text message calling an open meeting to which 30 or so people turned up at this meeting the majority of the the people there were against the decisions taken by the treasurer and only 3 for.
It was the understanding of the meeting that if the wishes of the majority was not adheared to that the secretary and treasurer resign their positions there for TOM SMITH does not represent TIPPERARY GOBA.
MY opinion on this whole sorry mess we are in comes from the very top that being the Government itself why because they insist on appointing none greyhound people to run our industry and the bad legistrations that go along with it I.e the right to appeal which is ok in other circumstances but when it allows you to appeal against a simple rule like your dog can not test positive for the following substances our industry has been abused by these laws
I BELIEVE MYSELF TO BE HONEST AND STRAIGHT TALKING so if anyone would like to ask me anything on any part of this post please do contact me on 087 2493983
Lastly I think the IGB should start small and sort out this small problem as to represent the greyhound owner's and breeders and then maybe we can move forward and tackle the bigger problem together

The problem on the ground Maurice is one member of the CLG Federation appeared on that RTE program and doesn't see a problem with it, we have some of the nicest people you could ever meet working their asses off for the people of our sport and we have some of the nicest people you could ever meet trying to prove to the public they are not the monsters that program painted us all to be we have antis flying in left right and center ripping our industry to shreds we all deserve better than that and we all deserve a Goba that has our interest at heart and the GOBAs fighting for us deserve better than that to...

I totally agree with you david and I think the board should step up to the plate and sort out this problem
How can people that no longer own greyhounds be representing those that do.

Quite a bit of coverage of Shelbourne Park incident in the media.
Can't find anything from RTE or IGB though. Must be there somewhere?

Interesting read to say the LEAST.THIS REFERS TO A PAST EVENT

On foot of the planned protest at Shelbourne Park Stadium tomorrow night about the future of Harolds Cross, IGB has taken the decision to cancel racing at the stadium. This decision was taken in the interests of animal welfare and of owners, trainers, staff and patrons. Such a protest will expose owners and trainers who want their dogs to race, our patrons, our staff and our service providers to unwarranted stress, tension and possibly intimidation. IGB are not prepared to countenance such a scenario and I have ordered the cancellation of the event
