I see that the proposed new laws (note the RIS for the new regulations) for GWIC include a provision for it to supply all sorts of information to "animal welfare groups".

This would include everyone from the RSPCA to the Animal Welfare League to the mob invading private properties all over the country.

I have no idea why that would be necessary or relevant to the industry (although RSPCA does have welfare obligations), and so I put in an objection.

I have no skin in the game but I imagine others might.

Tonight is the deadline.

Just as a warning - here is what The Australian reported in today's paper (31 July):

"Australia's biggest telco, Telstra, has called for a crackdown to limit access to information being sought by councils, small government agencies and other bodies that investigate minor legal breaches.

A parliamentary inquiry has been told that at least 87 agencies including veterinary bodies, councils and fisheries agencies have sought warrantless access to metadata held by telcos under mandatory data-retention laws in place since 2015".

This is the same principle proposed by government/GWIC to justify changes to their laws and allow GWIC to hand out private info to a wide variety of organisations, including anti-racing "welfare" groups.
