I am very worried about a couple of things I have seen today

1.A text requesting owners to attend an important meeting at Longford track on Friday morning

2.The pdf version of Lifford racecard, race 10,states "We hope to see you next week for our final meeting"

Has Indecon come up with the report the IGB wanted.

If it is true about Lifford and I sincerely hope its not that would be a shabby enough way of announcing it

Lifted off the nuts start of sad news for
Private tracks

track manager matthew has just posted that is with regret that lifford greyhound stadium will hold it last meeting on saturday the 17th august and he has said in his statement that due to the ongoing cuts by the igb it would be impossible to keep the track going and he has asked greyhound owners and breeders to contact the Igb to let them know there thoughts on the cuts, as someone myself who has been going to lifford all my life i can see this as the final nail in the coffin of greyhound racing in the north west i myself think it is disgraceful the way the igb has handled this matter and i have to say a massive thanks to the duffy family for keeping the track going during the last few years after the igb stopped the sunday racing and the other cuts they made at the track , i hope people now realise that this is only the beginning under the present board and other tracks will follow shortally unless all the greyhound owners breeders and followers stand up against these cuts , lets hope the igb can see sense even at this late stage and meet with the lifford track owners to try and keep one of the best greyhound stadiums in the country open for racing

In june 2018 I wrote to Mr Dollard highlighting my concerns over the future prospects for greyhound owners and breeders living in counties north of Dublin and the adjoining counties of Armagh,Tyrone and Fermanagh.Central to these concerns was the threat to Lifford and Longford tracks - fears which are beginning to be realised.

To his credit the CEO admitted that any review had to take account of the IGB's footprint across the country.Currently it looks like half the country will be served by two tracks unless footprint really is a serious consideration.

The Irish Greyhound Board (IGB) notes the decision of Lifford Greyhound Stadium to cease operations.

The IGB very much regrets the closure of Lifford Greyhound Stadium and its impact on staff, owners and the wider greyhound community.

The IGB foresees a successful and vibrant future for the greyhound industry as it seeks to further modernise itself, underpinned by the new Greyhound Racing Act 2019, with the care and welfare of the racing greyhound at its core.

Above is final para of the board's crocodile tears piece re closure of Longford.Did Boris Johnson write this piece of wishful thinking and hot air? It certainly does not represent the future for the industry and its people north of Dublin.
