I think they call it a Junket. A trip into the never never. I have heard that the GRV CEO and the Acting Chair of the GRV board plus a Sydney greyhound person have ventured to England to review safe tracks there? I have been to Greyhound Racing in England and America so I have seen it first hand. A few points if I may..... What qualifies the above mentioned to gather information on behalf of the industry? When the Safe tracks manager sits in his office back in Melbourne. What possibly could be gleaned from England who have outside lures, 6 dog fields and seeded runners or maybe this is what the industry has to look forward to with the overbreeding myth being realised as we speak. And America where dogs commonly have 200 starts and injury is not an issue, I hear you say why is that? Well for starters the tracks when I was there were deep and compared to our addiction to speed tracks which causes a lot of the major injuries like hocks and back muscles are much safer. Then you have dogs mainly running at one track for there career so they get used to the cambers of the track and all the tracks are pretty much the same shape, unlike here where no two tracks are the same and cambers are all different. All seems a bit hush hush to me which is no surprise. I guess the racing minister approved this so it must be ok.
