Interested to hear the thoughts on swimming a greyhound as a way of getting them fit for racing.
Is it as good as galloping?

I believe it is good as an addition to normal training routines but the main time I swim is following an injury & before it is wise to let the dog gallop. We have an excellent facility in Newcastle thoroughbred race track. A friend of mine used to only swim her dog between races & when she combined the swimming with trailing at the track her dog broke the Casino 600m track record a few years back.

An old trainer once told me that a 5min swim is the equivalent of a 300metre gallop so be aware that you don't over do it
