Why do The Meadows insist on disclosing the field but not do the box draw... Greyhound racing centres around box draws and surely having markets out for longer would be a better promotion for the sport than drawing it on track on Saturday night... IMHO it is just 4 days of missed marketing...

Agree its pretty pointless as only punters who actually follow greyhound racing would be looking at pre race markets on feature races, on the other hand gives you a chance to get good odds on a dog before it draws a favourable box and ends up getting its price cut in half

Why do the meadows insist on tainting the reputation and prestige of open grade heat and final group 1s with this type of race

Brett,
True enough but the club is not responsible for the box draw. The stewards do that and they may have some reason for the timing. Or they may not have been asked?

Hayden,
Since these are dogs with well declared form it would be rare indeed to find one so badly priced. However it would be common to find that TABCORP or the Corporates post rip-off prices with books of 130% and up. For big races the tote is often better in the end(ie due to the bigger pools).
If you happen to find one at "overs" you will be flat out getting TABCORP to take a decent bet anyway.
Remember, all F/O prices and rules are virtually unregulated - Raffertys applies.
I am not sure how much is bet in these so-called pre-race markets anyway. Figures are never published early or late.
