The latest Indecon report on Talking dogs _May 2020. makes for utterly depressing reading.
450 attending Shelbourne on a Saturday nights during January.

What's that all about as they say in the movies.

We need a new plan.
Derby final and night of stars nightwere phenomenal events atmosphere wise.
We need to move on quickly.

X Tra Vision the dvd rental company e mail all of their customers on Thursday with re commendations for weekend rentals.
Don't recall ever getting a follow up e mail to rebook a restaurant package at a dog track. Where does the Million euro marketing budget get spent.

The igb need to fight harder for an earlier start, ie.. the first phase of the lockdown is in apprpx 2 weeks and its for NON CONTACT SPORT like golf ect but there is no human contact with each other in a greyhound racing. I am also fighting for my fellow northern owner and trainer as we get NO payment from igb to help feed and keep our animals....WE pay exactly the same money into icc/igb as southern owners and breeders do. We cant last another 7 weeks, owners are telling me they are going to leave the sport MAYBE THATS WHAT IGB WANT,
So igb dont just sit on ur hands and take everything for granted that there will be enough dogs left for racing in 7 weeks, we are struggling badly.
So FIGHT for racing to start in the first phase or at the very least second phase, cant believe horse racing will wait 7 weeks

They've been told there date and by God if they couldn't get it brought forward the IGB had no chance.
Trainers travelling distances seems was biggest issue when most people told they can't go further than 2km 5km and 20km for recreation and non work purposes it would have been perceived a slap in the face for lads to cart there horses from kildare to killarney.
Don't agree with it myself but hard tell people stay away from there holiday homes when u let doggie lads and horse trainers drive by them.

But HRI are not lying down they are still fighting to get going in 2nd phase, so igb must do the same.
And with no racing how many igb workers have been furloughed, big wages saved could go back into industry

Best chance for horse racing returning earlier and greyhound racing is the British return dates for there dogs and horse racing I think that's to be announced Sunday.
If they return earlier than ours there will be more of a argument for resumption.

The IGB has also announced a Covid-19 Greyhound Care Payment Scheme to provide support for the care of racing greyhounds during the period that greyhound racing remains suspended as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.

A payment of 2 per day will be made in respect of each active greyhound currently registered on the IGBs Racing Management System. This includes greyhounds that have raced or had an official trial at any IGB licenced greyhound track in the previous 42 days. The 42 days is part of the statutory racing regulation within which a greyhound is permitted to trial/race. The 10% remittance to public trainers will continue to apply with respect to the greyhound care payment.
Bobby I presumed this applied to all dogs racing in ireland
north or south.

Only get 2 euro if they run down south if they run in derry or drumbo they get nothing. But we still pay into the pot the same as Southern owners

But Desmond, we in the north dont pay into GBGB nor is our race tracks shown in the betting shops so why would british bookmakers pay us anything.
We pay registering of pups, naming of pups, change of ownership, micro chipping {the list goes on} to ICC/IGB so we should be looked after the same

Every dog that performed under igb rules with igb race or trial form in same time period ought to be eligible for this payment (2euro per day) regardless of geographical location on this island.. failure to do so is simply evading responsibilities thus failing our industry stakeholders.... stakeholders from the northern tracks invest the same money..time..blood ..sweat and tears to keep this industry afloat as stakeholders from east south and west... Igb should reconsider

Looks like horse and greyhound racing will start up in Britain on June 1st, there is a lot of anger within the flat racing hierarchy here in Ireland with a lot of lobbying of politicians in the last few days as the flat racing industry in Ireland is huge , hopefully they might listen and if the horse racing gets back earlier so will greyhound racing, it's funny that we have to depend on the hri to do the fighting as our crew in the igb are totally inept.
